Arghhh! So close yet so far! Stuck in Subspace!

Hi all,
I'm currently stuck on a level in Subspace - it's just after the really "Windy" screen (looks pretty dessert-y). There's a ledge which is blocked off, and there's a red thing to hit which gets rid of the blocks (sorry I don't know the names for them!).
The only problems is, the second part of the "wire" the red ball travels along is missing - as it travels up and down...
Is there a knack to the timing of hitting it? Or am I just doing it all wrong?

I beleive the level you are referring to is called "The Great Maze." Other than that, I agree with Zelda_Fan. Go to http://www.supercheats.com/guides/super-smash-bros-brawl
