Verse mode matches are basically battles, between you, your friends or computer opponents.
Basically, the multiplayer side of Brawl.

There are six icons on the main menu. The red one in the top left side of the screen is Multiplayer. Any matches done in there count as a Verses Match, whether it be in a Standard Brawl or a Special Brawl.
