How do you start gliding with people like Pit or Charizard?

For metaknight, do his up B in mid air and then control where you want him to go. I don't know for Pit or Charizard though...

On the the gamecube and classic controllers hold the jump button y or x

To glide with Charizard,Meta Knight and Pit after you jump into
The Air hold down X,Or Y and you will glide along.
Meta Knight's Up+B is is also used for gliding when you do it
Near an opponent you hit them then glide.
