I've read the answers submitted here and have tried them. I understand where the goblin token is in Gringotts, but when I go in in free play, I don't have the option of a goblin character. I get stuck in Gringotts without being able to get past the lobby. When we go up to wave at the goblin sitting on the high chair, he just disappears. Any suggestions?

I had a hard time with that problem too! You just gotta keep on doing the level and then after the gate, you can unlock the goblin 'Griphook' (they really should have made a cheat code to unlock all the characters)............
I had the exact same problem, turns out all you need to do is cycle though the characters a different way (for me it was with the right button on the Xbox controller) and he'll appear - for some reason he just won't appear when using the Y button to swap normally.
I FIGURED IT OUT! Just press either the left or right buttons or left or right trigger buttons! Your main character will cycle through your entire list of characters!

It's because your in free-play and it doesn't show cut-scenes on it (if your on story-mode then I don't know)
