Question for Kirby's Return to Dream Land

I am stuck on one of the bosses. On level 5, Stage 6, Kirby and friends come against Grand Doomer.

I have seen footage of this battle on the internet, and Kirby defeats this boss single-handed using the "spark" form. However, when we enter this stage, we are offered 4 abilities, none of them "spark".

Is "spark" unlocked by achievements made in the earlier stages of the game, such as collecting gears or playing minigames? Or is there something else I have missed?

I would be most grateful for any helpful advice you can offer.

Go to the copy ability room in the Lor Starcutter, then go back to the boss. If you want to beat him easily, learn his move set by playing that level many times.

Go to the Lor Starcutter and go to the ability room that has spark. Get the ability and then go back to the boss.
