I bought the hilltop plot at the beginning of the game and just started my second year in spring. I stuck to just planting crops outside my house but now that I have more money, I want to plant in the other areas around my plot, but everytime I use my hoe, it doesnt do anything. It will let me cut weeds but not hoe or plant crops...what gives? My hoe is at level 3 already...do I need to upgrade it?

Well, you have to buy that land and own a house on it, then you can plant crops on it. You will have to save a lot of money to buy the land.
You must buy the land in order to plant crops, so you must go to the town hall, talk to Ellie, say you want to buy land and click on the land you want to buy(there are three)then you own that land. You then can build a house on the land and plant crops. If you don't buy it, you can't plant crops. Hope that helps!
