To get your home up graded you must talk to the mining district and talk to dale also have $4000 go to build and then build or upgrade then find your home then gill will tell you what he knows on the quilt. You can then talk to him and give him stuff. Also make sure to have alot of lumber.

You can get the mineral stones and lumber by smashing those big rocks (preferably, I'd get your hammer upgraded to lvl 2, so you can power up. What I do is I power up, hit it two or three times, then power up until it breaks. ^.^) and cutting down trees (your axe should do the job).
Also, what I do to get money, is I mine and look for toadstools and mushrooms. Maybe break a few rocks and crystals and gather up whatever comes out. I also fish, and I also go around looking for wild stuff to sell. But Idk you might earn more than me XD
So yeah. ^.^

You have to upgrade your house (everyone already told you about that). I think you might need a double bed like the other games, but I don't know. After you upgrade your house, talk to gill. He'll tell you what he knows about the quilt and then talk to the mayor about the clock thats broken. Go to the tower in the square, and then you'll get the quilt. After that, just go to gill and then ask him. It should work then. ^^
