Leveling up on mindreading is the same as leveling up on any other skill, such as firewall or ghost.

Once you have skill points to spend, go into your skills and look under Dragon Slayer. Mindread is the first one up the top which looks like a humans head.

Click on it to allocate points.

Please note that with certain skills, you have to be at a certain level before you can allocate more points to a skill.

Romon and the scrying stone have nothing to do with the main quest. It was only a side quest.

To get to Lovis. You will remember in the actual tower a waypoint shrine with gates blocking the path upwards, right? (You would have had to open most of them to get to the Stone).

Anyway, follow the path upwards and after you open the last gate you will see a door on the right. Go inside. Inside you will find a circular room with a glowing green light in the middle. Turn left and go over the first rubble heap, before turning around. You will see a corpse. Search the corpse and you will find a spell. Use the spell and a lever will appear. Use the lever.

You will then be in a throne room. Go over to the throne and interact with the pedestal. Answer all the questions correctly and you will be able to speak to Lovis.

I’m assuming the evil wizard you are referring to is Mundus, as that is the only quest I know of that uses runes, unless you are referring to something in Divinity II: Flames of Vengeance. If that is so, then I suggest you move your question here so you can get the answer you wish.

Now, if it is Mundus, here's what you have to do.

The first two runes you can acquire from the rune troll you must face outside the magical barrier. Go around to the other magical barrier and you will see that there is already a magical rune on one of the plates. Place a rune on the other plate. Use the elevator and go up. Exit the elevator. After your conversation with Mundus, go past the trolls to the magic barrier. Just like that barrier before, you will see that there is already a magical rune on one of the plates. You merely need to put one on the other plate to remove the barrier.

If you are referring to finding the chicken rune to finish the quest, you will find it in the cave behind the waterfall. When you come to the area, where you can turn right towards the dragon statues or straight. Go straight and you will find it in the room full of chickens.

There is nothing you can do. Once you have finished the game, it is over. You do not have a free play option. All you can do is replay the game if you wish.
