Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is a remake of the game Sonic Adventure 2, which was released for the Dreamcast in 2001. However, due to Sega's withdrawal from video game manufacturing, they decided to release a new and improved copy of the game for the Nintendo Gamecube, known quite simply as Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. This game features many extras that the original Sonic Adventure 2 did not, and is thus widely considered the better of the two games.
The graphics in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle are fairly average for the gamecube, presenting the usual 3D effects found in many other Gamecube games. However, the graphics never seemed to push forward to meet the Gamecube's full potential, as seen in games such as Shadow the Hedgehog, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and many others. It is for this reason that I find the graphics to be fairly standard, and nothing out of the ordinary.
Graphics: 7/10
I found the music in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle to be very fitting to whatever was happening in the game, thus adding to the excitement even more. Some of the lyrics were somewhat difficult to understand, but other than that, they fit the game superbly. The character's voices were very clear and easy to understand, and the overall sound quality was excellent.
Sound: 9/10
I found the gameplay in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle to be amazing, easily rivaling any game released for the Gamecube. Not only is it fun to play through the storyline, but going back just to do it all over again almost never gets old. Not only that, but they have several different options for you to use when you get fed up with the storyline, such as:
Multiplayer: Challenge your friends to a race, a mech battle, a treasure hunt, or even a match of Chao Karate!
Kart Race: Choose your favorite character for an amazing race, quite similar in style to Mario Kart itself.
Chao World: Raise your own adorable Chao, fusing it with different animals to give it the best stats and look that you can manage. When you think your child is ready, test it against other Chaos in either a Chao Race or a match of Chao Karate.
Boss Fights: After you've beaten the game, pay a visit to the Boss Fight mode, which allows you to test your skills against every single boss, one right after the other.
Gameplay: 10/10
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is one of those games that never gets old, no matter how long you play it. With all of the different modes, you never get tired of hopping on to play. And what's more, this game has over 180 Emblems (achievements) to collect before you can officially say "I've beaten the game." You can constantly test your skill, try to improve, or just redo the storyline, which is extremely complex and always leaves you begging for more.
Lastability: 10/10
While the graphics leave some to be desired, the sound is great, the gameplay is fantastic, and what's best, it never gets old. This is the kind of game you can play every day for three years without saying: "I'm so sick of this game." It always has you in an intense mode as you play through it, and always has you anticipating what comes next.
Overall score: 9/10
