This is my 5th Monster Hunter Freedom Faq. This guide was written to help you
know whatever it is you want about Ancient Stones. ( You can contact me by
e-mailing me at [email protected] ). If you do email me make sure the
subject says "Monster Hunter Freedom Ancient Stone FAQ" or else i'm just going
to delete it. You can only e-mail me if you find any errors or if you find any
new info on Ancient Stones not found in this guide.

An Ancient Stone is an item Monster Hunter Freedom that contains a weapon.
In other words it is a G-Class Ruststone. A rarer ruststone containing rarer
weapons. It can host a number of rare weapons, most notably the Eternal Schism.

The Ancient Stone is the only opportunity to get one of the best weapons in the
game, the Eternal Schism. The Eternal Schism is the best dragon distributing
weapon in Monster Hunter Freedom. Many people ask how to get this weapon due to
that alone which is why I created this FAQ.

Before you venture out to quest bring lots of pickaxes. Go to the mining area
and Hold the Left Trigger button until an item screen appears. Either scroll
left(Square) or right(Circle) until you have a pickaxe in your item window.
This is the tool used to find ancient stones.
To obtain an ancient stone go to any of the areas listed above in "Where To
Find Ancient Stones". With a pickaxe in hand mine each site until it says;
"There is nothing else here.", which means there is nothing left to mine in
that site. If your lucky you might mine an ancient stone.

To polish an ancient stone first go to the Equipment & Crafting Shop, located
in the north of the Kokoto Village. Talk to the guy in charge of crafting
weapons. Second select "Weaponcraft", then "Create Wpn". You will need to
scroll to the last page of the crafting list (simply press left on the dialog
pad). You should see a crafting option saying "??????", which is a type of
Acient Stone. If you have all 5 types of Ancient Stones there will be 5 options
that read "??????". Once polished the Ancient Stone becomes a weapon. There are
random weapons that can be obtained in an easier fashion, but you might find an
Ancient Weapon...

NOW, This is a strategy I got in an email by Keoppo:
At the end of every quest, the MHF randomly decides that the "nth" stone that
you polish will be a rusted weapon. so you if u dont have "n" number of
stones, you wont be able to get the rusted weapon. So my advice is to keep on
farming for ancient/rust stones until you have accumulated quite a few, then
try polishing. And when you get no rusted weapon, reset your MHF and go
complete a quest to get MHF to reset the value of "n" (easiest would be the
raw meet one). So when you DO actually get a rusted weapon, you remember the
number of stones u have polished before ( for example, the 5th stone is a
rusted weapon), then you reset MHF and go and polish any 4 stones. Then for
the 5th stone, you polish the ancient/rust stone you want (weapon type).
