You'll get a new weapon razor, and get attacked by a gorilla and some chimera and a gun turret. You can break the ice with the switch at the end of the pathway... as soon as you hit the switch though you'll be attacked again by 2 r 3 Chimera. IF you're collecting intel, you passed one next to a frozen pool. You can get it by swimming under the ice (watch for the mines) and shooting the machanical object with a round white ball on top... that operates another ice breaker, you'll see the opening, go and catch your breath and get the intell. Then swim back to the first opening, catch your breath and swim down and into a tunnel... which takes you inside the Lair.
You';ll be met by more chimera of course and a gorilla. Go forward and turn right, there you'll be met by flying drones and more Chimera, there's a machine gun here you can use if you want to. Then on through the opening and find Mallery standing on a balcony. He isn't quite himself anymore having become half chimera with the glowing yellow eyes. There is some intel. under his position. There are 3 switches/green glowing panels, in front of him on ground level. You have to stun him 3 times, each time you will be able to operate one switch which lower sections of a ramp/bridge to Mallery's location. Each time you pull a switch though, flying drone attack you. After the 3rd one, stun Mallery one more time then run up the bridge/ramp and kill him by snapping his neck. Grab his new auger weapon. That felt good! he was a pain.
Now on through the organic looking tunnel to the lift.. more boilers and chimera, the lift shaft has more dangers, look above you and see the ledges, each ledge invites attack from more chimera. Then you're on a platform with a gorilla/titan and more boilers. Kill them off and then on through the organic tunnel to the another chamber. There are two really big floating spiders in here and carriers floating in the background. The spiders cough up poisonous gas... the further back you are the easier it is to avoid the gas. Kill those off, keep moving around to avoid the gas. Then Grayson will take a ride on a carrier to the upper level.
On through an organic looking tunnel into the mother chamber... which is full of some weird fluid you can breath. There are some nasty mermaids in here to kill off and some switches to throw, then a really big fish monster shows up who tries to eat you. After dealing with them, Garyson swims up to a big "Heart"/Chrysalis looking thing and injects it with serum, the liquid drains off and that's when the alien Raine appears out of the Chrysalis/heart. She has a nasty scream (sonic blast) and after throwing a switch (which blasts her with a laser and lowers her shield) she will start to throw lightening bolts at you... you cannot shield yourself from these so just run. After the laser blast you can attack her for a few seconds until her shield comes back on. Then just run around and look for another green switch. After the first switch flying drones will attack, and the second switch same thing. The third switch and you get 2 gorillas/titans which come at you from opposite directions, so take one first then turn , shield up, and back away from the second which will be near you by then. Then kill off the 2nd titan and go after the alien Raine...she will eventually drop and you;ll see the end of story clips. I posted some video on this site..sorry the quality is not good and low volume, but my camera isn't that great...it looks and sounds good when you see it on the psp. Good luck! ;-)
continued.... the Hammer does it's work on gorillas a few Chimera, and takeout the strange looking posts with white round top, they blow up and didn't look friendly so I took them out before they could some any damage. At the end of the walk there's a gate and another Hammer comes out... hit it with the cannon and back off, only go forward into range when you can fire the cannon... it will go down, make your way thru the gate.
Now you'll be facing off with another hammer and 2 gorillas with machine guns on the ramparts. Take the hammer out first, just stand still and blast the thing with everything you got... then move around, dodge the blasts from the gorillas and take them out. Just when you think you're done... 3 more gorillas show up blasting you... take them out to... they will be to the left of the previous gorillas (I think). Then, no you're not done, comes a flying ship and another gorilla or maybe 2 gorillas on the ramparts... concentrate on the ship at first but position yourself so you can kill the gorillas because their fire will cut you down if you don't take them out. The ship has very poor aim. You need to move around and dodge blasts... but eventually you will kill off the ship... save point and you're off to the Chrysalis lair! there are pictures online, on utube for the route and story line now... there were a few clips of this last stage too... it seems much easier than the catacombs. I haven't had time to do the Lair yet though. Good luck. :-)
Surfacing from Catacombs and outside to the Crysallis Lair

Finally got past the earth digger with the green poisonous smog.. a lot of running backwards and forwards to avoid choking, it took ages to get past that beast. Anyway, finally we're on the way up and out into the cold air of Paris. The way up is fairly easy, I had no great problems except the very last part. There seems to be more than enough energy/life cells around and more ammo than you know what to do with. Makes a change. Flying robots and chimera, not too hard to kill either. Look for some intell on a ledge you have to cross a narrow bridge. Don't use the same palm device twice it will just take you back the way you came, you need to go up and out.
The last step, you're at the center and about to get out... You have 2 machine gun chimera and a machine in front of you.OK, get your shotgun, then run at the dude to your right, (that's were the ammo is you're gonna need for the machine.)The kill the chimera while on the move and hide behind a stone pedestal, NOT the low wall things.Behind the tall wall is a life recharger , machine gun ammo and auger ammo. Use what Lark ammo you have on the machine, take out the other chimera using the machine gun and cover from the shield (L button of machine gun)... then the auger and machine gun will take out the machine eventually.. just keep moving to the left and right behind the wall and avoid it's gun, or else you die. After a few attempts you'll get it...It's best to hit the machine from behind if you can do it, it dies faster that way. and finally you're out. Yeay! upinto snowy Paris and on to the Crysallys lair. You're in a hammer (big 2 legged machine, like the one you just just killed off).. The first few chimera and gorilla's are fairly easy to kill, then you get to a gated area, this is more challenging. You have several Chimera on the ground, one blast from the cannon (L button) will take out 3 or 4 at once, The robots in the air need machine gun treatment then once that lot is gone 2 gorillas appear on the left ramparts... Take them out by hiding behind the middle structure and shooting, they are terrible shots and you can dodge their blasts. When they are gone a big plane will fly over head. It's not over yet, if you're facing the 2 gorillas, turn to your left and more bad guys appear. I moved around to the right of the central structure and hid behind it, furthest away from the opponents, then took out the Chimera with big machine guns and 3 gorillas... again you can dodge the blasts and hide behind that central structure...NOT TOO BAD. Then there's a check point..your way forward will be to the right of where the 3 gorillas were... towards the tall black tower which is the Crysallis lair.. (compared to the catacombs this is easy )... so far.... 2 B continued...
Tail end of the Catacombs... Temple and hole in the ground
Added 2 Oct 2010, ID #3645
OK.. finally got past the chamber with the monkeys and big gorilla and 2 chimera.. and followed Mallory into the temple. Commentary (I think that's Parker's British accent)... finally a save point. So now you're inside the temple on a balcony and guess what more of those bloody chimps! don't use your chain gun or Lark ammo you;ll need those for the big gorilla that comes next. You'll havew to get rid of the monkeys with your razor and far eye weapon. It's tough but doable. The there's a check point thank goodness! Then the big gorilla comes, you can dispose of him with 3 Larks' the rest of your chin gun ammo and a few razor blasts, his "et pack" catches on fire and he blows up, but very conveniently blows up the wall first so you can climb down. Very decent of him.
THere's some ammo to pick up and some life rechargers. As soon as you approach the water 3 robots will fly out at you, the shot gun deals well with them, if you hide behind the short wall. There are more life rechargers under the water and a intell near a gargoyle. Find the slanted rock and climb up that to the other side. Pick up a life recharger (whenyou need it) and some shot gun ammo.. there's a chiera waiting for you around the corner so watch out.. and there's 4 or 5 more around the next corner and a big boy in armor with a crazy machine gun.
Use your razor and far eye to take these guys out... there's a some auger ammo which will help with the big boy. When they're finally gone you're gonna have to explore a bit cos there's more intel in the water on the other side of some rubble and hall way... you may drown in the attempt to fetch it though. The green light has a switch for the force field entrance... 3 more monkeys and 2 chimera later you're in a round doorway... there are several flying robots on the other side.. easy to take out if you move back and forth to open the doorway and use it for protection...
I hthnk that's when I went down in a lift and there was a check point (NO SAVE though... the last save was last time Parker spoke to you in the temple on the balcony remember before the monkeys!!).
you kill a bunch of chimera manning machine guns... you make you way down to that platform, then they will run up walkways towards you and you kill those off too... there's a usable machine gun, but I preferred to use the machine gun with its force shield (L button is force shield for the machine gun). Checkpoint when all are dead... still no save!! Then finally you get to a spot where a big earth mover makes a hole in the wall in front of you... 3 chimera come out and you kill those fairly easily, there is more chain gun ammo in the cave and lark ammo under the staircase and in the cave made by the earth digger... follow the earth digger and destroy it... there's loads of chimera in there and once the machine moves back once 3 flying robots come at you, easy to take out with machine gun or shot gun... now it's at this point, when I'm about to kill the earth digger the smallest slither of red light on it's charge display, when I'm gassed and die.. and I try to repeat that section a few times and fail (the green gass keeps getting me ) and then guess what... the weapons freeze up again... they have ammo but just don't work.. you can't change weapons.. nothing works... and the only way to get your weapons back is to switch off the psp, and then you loose everything since the last save... you're forced to repeat the whole journey all the way back from the last save point... yup, way back in the temple with the freakin' monkeys.
Bend guys if you're out there!! this is getting really old. Just let people save the damn game already, it's no fun repeating these parts all over... I just want to hear the rest of the story and see the graphics... is that too much to ask??? why are you doing this ? to make the game as tedious as humanly possible or what? I hate this crap. It's boring redoing the same stages over and over..
The good news is from now on, most of the graphics are available on utube if you don't want to waste more time on it... so I already know how it ends.. I may not bother anymore. When the guys at Bend Co. make an update of the game with save features let me know might want to finish it then.
OK.. so you made it this far.. You probably know you'll loose your game unless you get to a point where there is a movie clip and new commentary. I guess if you're lucky enough to will a "skill point" then you can save your checkpoints otherwise you loose those if you quit the game. There are very few checkpoints in the catacombs. Once you fall thru the floor and are ina room hiding behind a rock, you fight the creatures and the monkeys and you open the gate and kill the leapers and the next 2 creatures... then you enter a long hallway which curves around to the right... there a loads of bad guys in here and leapers all over. try to conserve your chain gun and auger ammo you wont get any more and you'll need them later... ok lets say you get past the hallway, still no checkpoint... you now see Mallory just before he blows the bridge to the temple... you kill the bad guy and go up the stairs, then kill the 5 or 6 flying robots and all the monkeys... still no checkpoint !! now you find the rock, move it go into the cave get the intel then come out and get ready to go
There is another flying robot and 2 bad guys on a bridge waiting to kill you. NO checkpoint... PIck up all ammo you'll need it.
More stairs, there are leapers waiting for you down there .. then into the cave... oh buy here's the huge monster thing in armor, and when he finally dies (no checkpoint ) you have monkeys and then you have 2 more bad guys on an upper bridge shooting down on you... I get to this point and some darn monkey or bad guy shoots the last bit of life out of me...
In fact last time I tried I had plenty of life left... but none of the weapons worked any more, makes me wonder if the game allows you so many tries then kills you off... I was really bummed. I couldn't shoot back.
OK I wish Bend games would allow you to save the game whenever you want and/or had more checkpoints. It's a great game but really annoying.. and although I like the graphics I'm getting really sick of getting stuck at a certain point and then having to redo 4 or 5 different stages before I can try to finish that part again. I just looked up the rest of the game on utube to see the graphics , I don't have that much time to waste on it.
Really annoying Bend guys. I probably won't get another Bend game until they fix that. Too frustrating. WE WANT TO SAVE WHENEVER !!!!
