You don't have to have the radio all fixed up or atleast I didnt but you have to sleep in a hut and your energy has to be really really full so drain your energy untill it's in the red then go into your hut and sleep on your provisional bed or provisonal cot then eat food that gives you like 8 or 9 point of energy. The whole not enough energy thing frustrated me but the place that you find after that are bomb.

I got provisional bed and I ate 20 pineapples that gives me 8 energy each and it still tells me to build a better bed or get more energy I gone mad if some one won't tell me what to do I will smash my PSP 1000x without caring!!!
