Question for Monster Hunter Freedom 2

Firstly, WHAT IS UP WITH THAT BLIMP THING???
Its bugging me and I don't feel like, shooting it to see if anything happens

Second, what is a good mining spot where I can get LOTS of ores so I can upgrade my katana and great sword

(P.S. Was a pro at MHF1 using a great sword, but now that I kno how to work a katana well, I'm using that quite often)

The blimp thing is good because if you wave at it it will tell you were the main monster is

The best place to mine is in the volcano.
Longswords are the greatest thing about this game. If you get the chance get the fire dragonsword.
It goes into the Smolder Dragonsword.
816 attack 520 dragon attribute and good blue sharpness.
