Kirin are weak against fire and water, so the saber should work. Hammers and Great swords are also worth a try. To cause the most damage, attack the monsters head (try to hit the horn if posible)

Good luck!

Rabidsquire answered:

Out of those options I would go with the supremacy blade. Kirin is weak to fire and water however the supremacy will win in the overall damage category, Raw > Element on long swords. Supremacy should dish out 41 dmg per head shot (not horn) per unsheathe. Saber will dish out 37 counting element. I know it doesn't seem like much but with the small bonus damage you should stagger kirin once every 5 unsheathes with supremacy and only once every 6 hits with the saber. More staggers = more time for all out bashing on the opponent. So 5 stuns is 25 hits with supremacy or 30 with saber, 10 is 50 and 60, etc. It adds up and each hit in itself is another bonus damage to tack on. Good luck hunting.

Sgt_Winter answered:

I rekon the weapon is only as good as it's user, so if you are a master of a certain weapon it should be easy enough to beat kirin regardless of elemental damage, or w/e, I specialise in long swords and bows and netiher have ever let me down no matter what their attack damage or elemental power, all you need to do is read kirin's movements and plan how each attack should go down
Good luck and practice makes perfect
