1) you need to do all the 3 star and 4 star quests (evey one of them) not the HR3 and HR4 quests.
2) If you have Rathalos soul armour, use the Tigrex tooth as it has a higher attack and no minus affinity (thanks to the armour)
3) Keep up the assult!, only stop hitting his belly when you need to sharpen, use rations or when Lao is leaving the area (when his front 2 legs are over the rocks).
To get past5 the tail, wait for Lao to step (so his tail is your side) then start sprinting, when the tail comes back your way dive, get up and continue sprinting untill your past.
