Use Water/Ice wepon and careful of the backflips. If it's your first time bring max potions and mega potions and antidots. =)

The Main thing you must know is, the rathians's move's...
During the start.... It's easy to attack it. As more damage you do to it, it will get angry and start running after you.. Avoid it as much as you can, cause it can cause quarter of your life gone and sometimes you get dizzy and it will attack you again... And that means half gone. When it is about to do it's back flip.. It will move 2 step back, watch carefully. When it moves 2 step back, stop attacking and get away from it. Or else it will cause you poison + HALF of your life missing.. Wildfire000 is right... Use ice attribute weapon.. It's better if you use dragon attribute weapon.. But I don't have it myself. So I used ice L.S

Hi, kamelot , nice to meet you!
My friend calls me a rathian master, but I'm not sure of myself!
I killed (normal)rathian 20 times, pink rathian 15 times and I have to start with killing gold.so I will help you with your problem.
The main thing is, that water and dragon is GOOD, but I recommend using a thunder weapon.The key of killing rathian, is having a good weapon.
Thats why I recommend to use Eager Cleaver, a weapon you know (i think :) )
Okey, first, you have to get your hands on mega potions, max potions (if possible, I recommend to use ancient potions.)offcourse, don't forget to bring normal potions and herb+blue mushrooms.
Now, your all set?Lets go kill that rathian!!!
I recommend to slice the tail of first, then the head.If possible, try the wing claws to!(they will give you rathian claws at the reward, a very handy item!)
If you did all that, then just hack away!!be carefull for her flip, it will poisin you (like nishlka said)
If it walks 'funny', then her last minutes (seconds?) have come!
Just get in front of her, try to flinch her.if you can't, just follow her.
Yes, she falls down!!what we have? 1 DEAD rathian!
