You have to lower his life,take his sword in case you don't know how press [] when your near him. Swing the sword at the 5 or 6 ice statues outside the tip of the cicle in the middle of the field. I know i've beat the game 3x.

Take his sword and don't drop it or attack Mephisto use it to destroy the statues
