Question for Daxter

I am at the Fish Cannery and I there is a part where you have to fly over a big blue fish. And every time I try to fly it will eat me where ever I go. Could someone please tell how to get over it?

Use the flamethrower attachment to melt the fish on your left or right then the fish will get stuck on to the fish then you cross the river
