Batman has proven a worthy opponent, capable of deducing the Riddler's plans, but Nigma is dedicated to creating a mystery the Dark Knight will not be able to solve in time. Facts: Real Name: Eddie Nashton (aka Edward Nigma) Occupation: Professional Criminal Base of Operations: Gotham City Eyes: Blue Hair: Brown Height: 6 ft 1 in Weight: 183 lb First Appearance: Detective Comics #140 (October, 1948) Attributes: > Genius intellect > Driven by a need to test his wits against law enforcement by leaving clues to his planned crimes > Compulsive need for attention Patient Interviews: ------------------------------ Patient interview #21, May 27th ------------------------------ Dr. Young: Patient interview 21. Patient's name is Edward Nigma, also known as the Riddler. So, Edward. Warden Sharp tells me you've been leaving threatening riddles scrawled on the asylum walls, again. Riddler: One would have to be severely paranoid to read threats into harmless riddles, Doctor Young. May I test you with one? Dr. Young: Very well Riddler: What is it that walks on four legs, then two legs, and finally three legs? Dr. Young: A human being. As a baby it crawls on four legs, as an adult it walks around on two and in later years it uses a cane. Riddler: (laughs) Good try, but the answer to all three is a baby. True, it crawls on all fours, but cut off its legs and it can only wiggle on two limbs. Give it a crutch, it can hobble around on three. You see? Dr. Young: That's horrible. How can you even joke about that? Riddler: Easily, Doctor. Its not my baby. ------------------------------ Patient interview #39, July 29th ------------------------------ Dr. Young: Taped interview 39. Patient's name is Edward Nigma. At this point in time I have yet to decide if Mr. Nigma is a suitable candidate for the Titan process. I'd like to talk about your childhood. Riddler: Miserable. Next? Dr. Young: By all accounts that is where your fascination with riddles began. I believe discussing those years could explain your compulsive behavior. Riddler: Very well... (Sigh) My father hated me. Always called me a moron. Dr. Young: I see. Riddler: I was determined to prove him wrong, so I entered a contest at school. A twenty dollar prize to the kid who could figure out an almost impossible logic problem. I won, of course. Dr. Young: And that pleased your father? Riddler: hardly. He was convinced I had cheated. He kept yelling, "You must have cheated! Admit it, you moron! You cheated!" I swore I didn't and he hit me for lying. Dr. Young: Im sorry to hear that, Edward. Riddler: Don't be. He was right. ------------------------------ Patient interview #44, August 21st ------------------------------ Dr. Young: Patient interview 44. This is yet another interview with Edward Nigma. I have yet to make up my mind whether he is a genius or just deluded. Whichever one he is, just being in his company is both irritating and exhausting. Riddler: Hello, Miss Young. You look tired. Anything you need my help with? Dr. Young: No thank you, Edward. I am here to help you. We all are. Riddler: (chuckles) Forgive my arrogance, Doctor, but if you think I need your help, well, you're in the right place. Dr. Young: Let's look at it a different way. Throughout your career, you have specialized in bizarre traps and convoluted clues that, more often than not, result in the death of the unfortunate participants. Riddler: And if the citizens of Gotham were smarter, my games would be merely an amusing diversion. Dr. Young: Instead of deathtraps. Riddler: You really should be thanking me. Weeding out the ignorant, the stupid, the useless. But don't worry, Im sure you would survive. What a lovely photo on your desk, Doctor. Your family? Mother, perhaps? (Sounds of a scuffle maybe) Dr. Young: Put that down! Get out! Guards! ------------------------------ Patient interview #55, October 4th ------------------------------ Dr. Young: Let's discuss your obsession with Batman. Riddler: Hardly an obsession, Miss Young. I simply feel an obligation to expose him. Dr. Young: You know who he is? Riddler: More importantly, I know what he is. Dr. Young: What do you mean? Riddler: It's obvious. The Mask, the weapons, the scare tactics, he's a criminal. No different than Joker, Two-Face or myself. Dr. Young: Most people consider him a hero. (A sound resembling a chair sliding across the floor) Riddler: Most people are idiots. They can't see Batman for the villain he is. Riddle me this. How did he get his car and his gadgets? Dr. Young: I don't... Riddler: With money stolen from the criminals he "defeats". Why does Gordon turn a blind eye to his antics? Batman bribes him! The answers are right in front of your stupid, gawking face! Dr. Young: Edward! Please, calm down... Riddler: Wake up, Gotham! No sane, law-abiding man does these things! No one's that selfless! Batman is as vile as they come! (Sounds of a scuffle again) Dr. Young: Security! Security! ------------------------------ Patient interview #76, January 16th ------------------------------ Dr. Young: This is my final interview with Edward. I have gone as far as I can. I can no longer tolerate his mood swings and tantrums. I have more important work to be getting on with. He will be transferred to Dr. Whistler's care as of next week. Riddler: Good morning, Doctor. How are you today? Dr. Young: I'm fine, thank you, Edward. You're in a good mood. Riddler: I'm always in rare spirits when I'm about to be released. Dr. Young: Edward, you know you don't come up for parole for another three years. Riddler: First thing I'll do is have dinner at that Italian place on 19th Street... Dr. Young: Seriously, Edward... Riddler: I only hope Joker hasn't completely trashed the city. Ah well, I'm sure I'll find out soon enough. Dr. Young: Wait, have you been in contact with The Joker? He escaped Arkham weeks ago! Riddler: And yet, one hears things... Dr. Young: What things? What have you heard? Riddler: Oh, something about a surprise party for Batman, I forget the rest. You know Joker, yak, yak, yak. Dr. Young: Edward, if you know anything, you've got to tell me! Lives could be at stake! What did Joker say? Riddler: You forget, Doctor. I'm the one who asks the riddles. ============================== 20. Seeing as this is our first session, let's spend some time getting to know each other. Zsasz: I dont need to know you, Miss Cassidy. Everything is meaningless. Dr. Cassidy: Don't you think that's a very negative outlook on life, Victor? Zsasz: You've no doubt read my file. Dr. Cassidy: Yes... yes I have. It says you come from a wealthy family. That your parents died. How you lost all the money gambling. Zsasz: And none of it matters. Dr. Cassidy: Why do you keep saying that, Victor? Zsasz: Because the only thing that does matter is the mark. Have you seen my work, Miss Cassidy? Dr. Cassidy: If you are referring to the marks on your... Zsasz: Of course I mean my tally marks. The police report states that you have murdered, or liberated if you like, 20 young women in the last 3 months. Each had her throat slit and was left... posed. Zsasz: They were all lucky to be chosen to receive my gift. Dr. Cassidy: I doubt they would agree with you. Zsasz: Really? How about you, Miss Cassidy? As you take the elevator to your apartment each night, open the six locks to your apartment 433, remember you forgot to buy your cat food. Again. Dr. Cassidy: How do you know where I...? Deep down, I believe he views all of us as potential victims. Guard: Doc, are you OK? Dr. Whistler: What's happening? Guard: Its Zsasz. He broke out of isolation. He's gone. Dr. Whistler: Oh God! Guard: Don't worry, Doc, you're in the safest place. He's definitely left the island. Dr. Whistler: Of course. But someone needs to alert the authorities, he'll need to kill again. Do you understand me? Needs to. Oh no. He's gone after Dr. Cassidy. (Dial tone, dialing, and ringing are heard through speaker phone.) Dr. Cassidy: Hello? Dr. Whistler: Sarah, its Gretchen. Listen to me. Dr. Cassidy: Oh, for the love of... Hold on. There's someone at the door. Dr. Whistler: Sarah! Do not answer the door. Can you hear me? Do not answer the door. It's Zsasz! He's free. ============================== 33. Poison Ivy (+) ============================== Story: Botanist Pamela Isley was transformed by a science experiment gone wrong into a plant-human hybrid. With chlorophyll flowing through her veins instead of blood, she developed a toxic touch and her pheromone-fueled talent for seduction. Pamela Lillian Isley. November 12, 11:33 AM. Good morning, Pamela. How are you today? Poison Ivy: Fine. Today is a special day. Dr. Kellerman: What do you mean? Ivy: This is the anniversary of my new life, when I found my true self, my destiny. Dr. Kellerman: Are you referring to the event with Dr. Woodtrue? Ivy: Yes, what else? Of course, at the time I thought Jason had poisoned me, but in retrospect he did me a huge favor. Dr. Kellerman: And why do you believe what he did has... helped you? Ivy: He showed me the bigger world. A world I should protect. Of course, my first offer was rejected. Dr. Kellerman: Offer? You tried to kill everyone in Gotham. Ivy: Well, sometimes you need to prune back hard in order to make something flourish. ------------------------------ Patient interview #42, November 14th ------------------------------ Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Patient interview, Pamela Lillian Isley, November 14, 10:21 AM. Hello, Pamela. Today I'd like to go back to something you said in our last conversation. Poison Ivy: Ask me anything you like. Dr. Kellerman: You said your first offer to help Gotham was rejected. How can you possibly believe that? Ivy: What do you mean? Dr. Kellerman: You released thousands of poisonous spores into Gotham, killed hundreds of people. How does that help anybody? Ivy: Im not interested in bodies, Doctor. Horrible fleshy sacks walking around destroying my poor babies with their greed and arrogance. Dr. Kellerman: But aren't you one of those fleshy sacks? You're a.... were a doctor too. How can you turn your back on us? Ivy: Quite easily, as it happens, but not you, Stephen. You're different. I feel we have a connection. Dr. Kellerman: Really? You do? Ivy: Of course. ------------------------------ Patient interview #43, November 15th ------------------------------ Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Pamela! I got what you asked for. Do you like it? Poison Ivy: Oh yes, Stephen, I love it. Such a beautiful flower. Do you mind if I keep it? Dr. Kellerman: Oh no, Pamela. I can't leave it. It's against all the rules. I'll just bring it and show it to you when I visit. Ivy: But it's me, Stephen. I get so lonely on my own. You wouldn't want me to be lonely, would you? Dr. Kellerman: No of course not. Keep it. Just don't let anyone see. Really. No one. Ivy: You can trust me, Stephen. Thank you. Now give me a kiss. Dr. Kellerman: I can't... people will see. Ivy: No one's watching. What's wrong with you? Don't you love me? Call me Ivy. Dr. Kellerman: Of course I love you. ------------------------------ Patient interrogation #1, November 17th ------------------------------ Warden Sharp: Where is Doctor Kellerman? Poison Ivy: How should I know, Warden? It does seem careless of you to have lost him. Warden Sharp: I have no time for your games, Miss Isley. Tell me where you have him. We have security footage of you and him leaving your cell last night. Ivy: So? Warden Sharp: Do I need to spell it out? We know you hypnotized him, or whatever it is you do. We know he took you somewhere, but conveniently, security cameras across the island were mysteriously covered by leaves and flowers at 3 AM. Now tell me where he is! Ivy: I'm not saying a word unless you do exactly what I tell you to do. ------------------------------ Patient interrogation #3, November 18th ------------------------------ Warden Sharp: We found him. No thanks to you. The poor man could have died. Poison Ivy: So? Warden Sharp: He has a wife. A child. Ivy: As do the plants he tramples underfoot. The spores he breathes in and destroys have children. Why does he deserve anything more than them? You people ignore what is happening in front of your eyes. Warden Sharp: I refuse to put the welfare of plants before the welfare of people. Ivy: And that is why you will lose. There's more happening than you know, Warden. It's all connected. ============================== 34. The Scarecrow (+) ============================== Story: Taunted and bullied as a youth, Jonathan Crane vowed to overcome his fears through the study of psychology and biochemistry. Kicked out of his university for experimenting on human subjects, Crane then adopted the identity of the Scarecrow and armed himself with a specialized fear-inducing gas that makes a persons deepest phobias become frighteningly real. His ongoing criminal reign of terror makes him one of Batman's most psychologically dangerous foes. Patient was referred to me after the incident with Dr. Murphy. He appears to have suffered a breakdown of sorts. I believe it was brought about after the loss of his wife and child. As Yet, the patient has been unable to speak. Continued observation shows little mental activity. It's as if the shock of what he saw triggered his mental collapse. (Door squeaking open) Guard 1: There's someone in here! Guard 2: It's him! We found him! Guard 1: Break down the door! (Banging) Scarecrow: Note to self. As ever, it is difficult to continue my research under such conditions. Guard 1: Step away from Dr. Combs. Guard 2: Now! Guard 1: Get down on the ground! Guard 2: We've found them. Someone get a medic. Oh God, what's he done to him? ------------------------------ Patient interview #6, January 22nd ------------------------------ Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Patient interview 6. Dr. Crane has been back in custody for 3 weeks. Regular sessions have been inconclusive. I am not sure he is actually insane. Scarecrow: Good evening, Stephen. How are you tonight? Dr. Kellerman: I'm conducting the sessions, Jonathan. Scarecrow: Of course. If that helps you cope, I wouldn't have it any other way. Dr. Kellerman: Let's talk about the events 3 weeks ago. What did you think you'd achieve? Dr. Murphy is still in therapy. Scarecrow: I wanted to understand him. His personal demons. His fears. It's all quite fascinating, really. Dr. Kellerman: But you are... were a respected doctor. A brilliant mind, now just another resident in Arkham. Scarecrow: Can I have a drink? A strong one? That kind of question bores me. Dr. Kellerman: I'm afraid not. Scarecrow: Interesting choice of words, Doctor. Tell me, what are you afraid of? ------------------------------ Patient interview #9, January 29th ------------------------------ Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Patient interview 9. Dr. Crane continues to evade questions. I believe he is quite sane. Just evil. He takes no interest in the people he has hurt. His research appears to be the only motivating factor in his life. What is it about fear that drives your obsession? Scarecrow: Fear drives everything, Stephen. Everything. Your life is governed by fear. Every decision you make is a product of that fear. Dr. Kellerman: Don't be ridiculous. Scarecrow: You married your wife... Margaret, isn't it? ...because you were scared of dying alone. You have children because you are scared of leaving nothing behind that really matters. You go to the doctors because you're scared of dying. Do I need to go on? Dr. Kellerman: No, I think that will be all for today. Guards! ------------------------------ Patient interview #12, February 14th ------------------------------ Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Today I have another interview with Crane. I cannot say I am looking forward to it. I've been feeling anxious. I don't like to admit it, but... I think he's getting to me. Scarecrow: How are you today? Dr. Kellerman: I keep telling you, this is my session. Scarecrow: It was your session, Doctor, but not anymore. Guard: Are you OK, Doc? Dr. Kellerman: I think... yes... I... Scarecrow: Oh, he's fine. Just questioning his grip on reality. You should be doing the same any second... Guard: Mom, is that you? Wait, what are you doing? Dr. Kellerman: Get off of me... Help. I need help here. I can't breathe... Scarecrow: Like I said... You're all part of my experiment now! ------------------------------ Asylum interview #1, February 14th ------------------------------ Scarecrow: Asylum interview 1. My experiment is underway. Working alone, I have created my ultimate Fear Gas, its potency a revelation. Dr. Kellerman: They're all over me. Guard: Please, Daddy, don't do it. (Screaming) Dr. Kellerman: Keep away! Keep away! Keep away! Scarecrow: I have pumped enough gas into the Medical Center to break 100 minds. It should only be a matter of time before... (Glass shattering) What? Dr. Kellerman: Give it up. Now! Scarecrow: How... how are you still standing? How come it's not affecting you? Batman: Who says it's not? Scarecrow: I knew it. What was it like? What have you seen? Dr. Kellerman: Officer Cash. Get this formula to the air-conditioning system. Now! Batman: You failed, Crane. Again, I've been working with Dr. Kellerman, creating an antidote to the toxins in your cologne. He fooled you, Crane. How does that make you feel? Threatened, humiliated? Scared? *Thanks to BlackKing for helping me with whose saying which lines in this one! ============================== 36. Scarface ============================== Story: Gotham's Blackgate Penitentiary once had a Gallows Tree from which 313 criminals with death sentences were hanged. The wood from that tree was whittled by an inmate into the puppet Scarface, and that inmate was murdered by Arnold Wesker, a man who soon fell under Scarface's influence. While most believe that Scarface is simply a tool through which Wesker, as the criminal mastermind, the Ventriloquist, acts out a dark side to his personality, Wesker himself believes that Scarface is possessed by the souls of who died beneath the gallows Tree, and the puppet actually motivates him to commit the duo's many crimes. Facts: Real Name: Scarface Occupation: Professional Criminal Base of Operations: Gotham City Eyes: Black Hair: Black Height: 2 ft 6 in Weight: 15 lb First Appearance: Detective Comics #583 (February, 1988) Attributes: > Puppet animated with eerie verisimilitude > Frequently wields under-sized but lethal weaponry > When teamed with the Ventriloquist, acts as an old-style mob boss, with a sociopathic disregard for human life ============================== 37. Hush ============================== Story: Tommy Elliot and Bruce Wayne were childhood friends and, unknown to Bruce, dark reflections of each other. A childhood sociopath, Elliot tried to kill his parents so he could inherit their fortune. When his plan failed partly due to the surgical skills of Thomas Wayne, Bruce's father, Elliot blamed Bruce. An incredibly skilled surgeon as an adult, Elliot planned an elaborate revenge scheme on the Batman. He disguised himself as the villain Hush, his face covered in bandages, but he was in the end defeated and unmasked by the Dark Knight. Hush still plots revenge against Batman, generating complicated schemes with surgical precision. Facts: Real Name: Thomas "Tommy" Elliot Occupation: Surgeon Base of Operations: Gotham City Eyes: Brown Hair: Reddish-brown Height: 6 ft 3 in Weight: 225 lb First Appearance: Batman #609 (January, 2003) Attributes: > Great physical strength, augmented by a hatred of Bruce Wayne > World-class surgeon, capable of extraordinary medical breakthroughs > Master of disguise > Determined to destroy Bruce Wayne ============================== 38. Mad Hatter ============================== Story: Obsessed from a young age with Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Jervis Tetch, an expert hypnotist, embraced a delusion that he was in the incarnation of a character in the story, the Mad Hatter. Using his skills for mesmerism, the Mad Hatter has committed many crimes, often themed around the book that inspired him and his love of hats and headgear, going so far as to implant his hats with mind-control chips to amplify his hypnosis skills. Above all other headwear, however, he covets Batman's distinctive cowl, and will stop at nothing to acquire it. Facts: Real Name: Jervis Tetch Occupation: Professional Criminal Base of Operations: Gotham City Eyes: Blue Hair: Red Height: 4 ft 11 in Weight: 115 lb First Appearance: Batman #49 (November, 1948) Attributes: > Master of hypnotism and mind control > Obsessed with hats, especially one-of-a-kind items > Delusional schizophrenic with a fixation on Alice in Wonderland ============================== 39. Clayface ============================== Story: Initially an actor in horror films, Karlo went mad when he learned a classic film of his was to be remade with a different actor in the lead role. He took on the mask of the film's villain, Clayface, and killed several of the remake's cast and crew before being stopped by Batman and Robin. Later, Karlo joined the Mud Pack, an alliance of shape-changing, mutated villains who had subsequently used the name Clayface. While that group was defeated, Karlo tricked his allies and injected himself with the essences of several of them, becoming a superhuman imbued with the abilities to change shape, melt others into protoplasm with a touch, and mimic the powers of heroes or villains he copies. Facts: Real Name: Basil Karlo Occupation: Professional Criminal Base of Operations: Gotham City Eyes: Red Hair: None Height: 6 ft 5 in Weight: 265 lb First Appearance: Detective Comics #40 (June, 1940) Attributes: > Can alter his physical form, adopting the appearance of nearly anyone > His malleable physical form makes him extremely difficult to injure or contain > His touch can be poisonous ============================== 40. Humpty Dumpty ============================== Story: An obese, bald man, nicknamed "Humpty Dumpty" for his egg-like form, Humphry Dumpler is obsessed with taking things apart and putting them back together. His crimes at first were minor break-ins, leading to small mechanical items to no longer functioning due to Dumpler's inability to adequately reassemble them after taking them apart. But soon his obsession grew to the point that major disasters occurred in Gotham, and Dumpler's crimes also extended to a gruesome attempt to "fix" his abusive grandmother by dismembering her and then attempting a Frankenstein-like reassembly. At Arkham he is a model inmate, his quiet nature and imposing physique inuring him to the madness surrounding him Facts: Real Name: Humphry Dumpler Occupation: Professional Criminal Base of Operations: Gotham City Eyes: Brown Hair: None Height: 6 ft 3 in Weight: 345 lb First Appearance: Arkham Asylum: Living Hell #1 (July, 2003) Attributes: > Extremely tall, heavy, and strong > Possesses an almost unnaturally quiet, deliberate nature > Ritualized childhood abuse has led to a severe case of arrested development and an inability to assimilate into modern society > Obsessed with the processes of disassembly and reassembly ============================== 41. Tweedledum and Tweedledum ============================== Story: Cousins with an uncanny resemblance to each other, Deever and Dumfree Tweed both shared criminal leanings and a fixation on Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. Teaming up, they've modeled themselves after Tweedledum and Tweeldledee from that book, planning often outrageous, absurdist schemes to trap the Batman. Facts: Real Name: Deever and Dumfree Tweed Occupation: Professional Criminals Base of Operations: Gotham City Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown Height: 5 ft 9 in Weight: 175 lb First Appearance: Detective Comics #74 (April, 1943) Attributes: > Obsession with Alice in Wonderland > Skilled criminal masterminds > Despite being cousins, could pass as identical twins ============================== The Spirit of Arkham ============================== Story: Quincy Sharp has long been hiding a secret. Doctors had previously diagnosed him with a schizophrenic personality disorder, but he chose to ignore it. How could someone of his importance be ill like the dogs in his asylum? On taking over the administration of Arkham Asylum, Sharp became obsessed with the hidden writings of Amadeus Arkham. As he read more of these memoirs, he became almost two people; one dedicated to curing Gotham, the other desiring only to eradicate the evil of insanity from Arkham. In his demented state, he has stalked and killed patients, his ultimate goal being to kill the Joker. It is possible the rational side of his personality is not even aware of this dark, destructive force within him. Facts: Real Name: Quincy Sharp Occupation: Executioner Base of Operations: Arkham Island Eyes: Blue Hair: Gray Height: 5 ft 8 in Weight: 190 lb First Appearance: Batman: Arkham Asylum (Summer, 2009) Attributes: > Intense dedication to "cleaning up" Arkham > An alternate personality that is prepared to kill patients to facilitate the cure > Contempt and disgust for all forms of psychiatric disorder that is rooted in self loathing Deciphered Messages: ------------ Message #1 ------------ I am the spirit of Amadeus Arkham. Through my actions, I have saved this cursed city, through my own curse is to forever remain in the shadows. My story is carved into the very soul of Arkham and will only be revealed to those dedicated enough to discover it. ------------ Message #2 ------------ My family's blood ran through the heart of Gotham. We were doctors, politicians and teachers; we have been the organ cleaning the arterial filth from the city. We have been its servants giving all to protect it. And still it has chosen to hurt us. ------------ Message #3 ------------ As Gotham's veins slowly filled with pain and suffering, the effects were felt everywhere. My father fell first, infected by some foul disease; my mother lived on, but only in a dream. I returned to the family house to care for her where she remained in her bed for as long as her body continued to breathe. Her tears kept me awake at night. ------------ Message #4 ------------ My journey lasted little over a month. Visiting academics in both Metropolis and Keystone. I was exposed to a wealth of new ideas. I began my day returning home in good spirits, eager to see my wife and family. I ended it kneeling in their blood, broken fragments of my life pouring through dripping red fingers. ------------ Message #5 ------------ I returned to my work; but I could not shake the pictures from my mind. I should have been repulsed, but I was more eager than ever to find an explanation for why someone would do this. ------------ Message #6 ------------ They brought the animal before me, shameless and barking like a mad dog. For what felt like days I endured his boasts. He took pleasure recounting his actions, cataloging his depraved crimes. What should have been revenge turned to pity, this poor dog needed my help. ------------ Message #7 ------------ The island changed little over the years. Its reputation was in tatters, but I vowed to fix it. As the buildings were rebuilt I saw the future; a bright wonderful future. ------------ Message #8 ------------ New brick, metal and paint covered old wounds. Fresh blood was injected into the body. Bright new minds came and all swore to uphold our promises. We all know we were the ones to fix this city. And the city would thank us. ------------ Message #9 ------------ My family's killer stood in front of me. Years of therapy have deemed him sane. I was proud to see him walk free. In exchange for his liberty the state required only a signature. He talked about wanting to walk in a park, how he longed to feel fresh air on his face, and then he took my father's fountain pen and killed my secretary. As he was subdued, he screamed out, pleading for forgiveness, for pity, but I had none. I watched as guards beat him to a stain on the floor. ------------ Message #10 ------------ Spring was a turning point, a new beginning, a glorious realization of my true destiny. My family's killer perished in an unfortunate accident. These animals cannot be cured. Like dogs, they only respond to discipline. And if that fails, then I was afraid that these accidents would have to continue. ------------ Message #11 ------------ I took a walk around my island. I passed by the penitentiary and felt nauseous as the thought of the filth it contained. I looked out over the Gotham Bay and in the distance I saw lights, no doubt boats bringing more filthy degenerates to my city. I swore again to protect her from this darkness. ------------ Message #12 ------------ I argued with the last group of young, eager doctors. They bored me with theories and ideas proving that they had no theories on how to cure these animals. Only one shared my vision. I offered her the chance to explore her dreams. She accepted. We'll make a good team. ------------ Message #13 ------------ The Gotham police dragged a new patient to the island. They said he was responsible for the disappearance of hundreds of the city's vagrants. As I looked at his disgusting body, all scales and teeth, my mind free, dreaming of delicious punishments to break this monster. Doctors gathered around, poking it, examining, but only I know what would cure him once and for all. ------------ Message #14 ------------ The beast was too strong. His animal savagery nearly cost me my life. I took my frustrations out on a lone patient. His case notes suggested he was a paranoid schizophrenic. His please as I beat him to death suggested much more. His confessions were illuminating. My path was clear. ------------ Message #15 ------------ Every day I found the patients more distracting. Their insane mutterings and constant twitching disgusted me. There was only one way to cure this evil, only one way to purify the city and ensure its future. I needed to prepare myself. I needed to be ready. ------------ Message #16 ------------ I had a sudden pang of conscience. I sought counsel from my priest on the choices I had made. I asked him if it was a sin to kill in order to save a life. The holy man said all life was sacred, but a judgment would not be upon my soul if I acted to save another. I left the confessional with my soul uplifted, convinced more than ever I am doing a service not only to mankind, but to God as well. ------------ Message #17 ------------ I watched in silence as he brought in the woman. Her skin now a venomous green, the wonton creature no longer looked like a human being, much less a woman. The Bible says, "Suffer not a witch to live," yet he has once again delivered this female atrocity to our care. Once I have dealt with the monster, I think it will be time to see if green wood does, in fact, burn. ------------ Message #18 ------------ Sitting in the darkness outside of his cell, I watched the crazed twitching, listening to the disgusting words that came from his mouth. How can I let a dirty animal like this live? He is the cancer I have sworn to protect the city from. ------------ Message #19 ------------ Curse me for a fool. How could I not see it until now? The monster had a confederate! I hid in the darkness near his cell and saw with my own eyes one of the doctors whispering to him. She looked at him through the transparent barrier with tenderness, with, dare I say, desire. My skin crawled with revoltion as she kissed the glass. Fighting the urge to dash the woman's head through the glass, I let her continue; the damnable clown might have shared secrets with her that would be useful once the mad dog has been executed. I'm sure the woman will reveal what she knows to me. If not willingly, then certainly under electronic persuasion. After that, a lobotomy, I think. Unfortunate for one so young, but her lust has put the reputation of Arkham at stake. Yes. A lobotomy, the very thing. There is no other way to ensure her silence in this regrettable manner. ------------ Message #20 ------------ Yet again I found myself watching him. No one can provide a cure. He laughs in the face of those who try. Amadeus would not have let him live and neither should I. One last sip of cognac and I was ready. ------------ Message #21 ------------ He watched as I entered the cell. He smiled as I showed him the knife. I told him how I will use it. How I will cleanse this city. And then terror. I was paralyzed. I struggled. I screamed, but I was silent. The monster looked at me, expressionless. He ran my blade slowly across my forehead, a smile cracked across his horrible porcelain face and I heard the filth fall from his mouth. He laughed and called me that horrible name. ------------ Message #22 ------------ It must have been Crane, another one who doesnt deserve to live. Why do these people thrive on chaos? Joker in particular desired anarchy and, since his escape, will no doubt wreak it upon my city. I feel this is the end for my diary. Joker will be recaptured, my story will be told. I am not afraid. If Arkham becomes my cell, then I will know I did my best. I will be remembered. ------------ Message #23 ------------ I am the spirit of Amadeus Arkham. Even though Amadeus had long since passed, his spirit lived on, surviving, moving through the walls of his asylum. When it chose me, I felt proud. I was honored to continue his work. To cleanse this city. If you are strong-willed enough to follow my tales, you are strong-minded enough to deduce my identity. Come and find me, friend. Together we will save Gotham. ------------ Message #24 ------------ My name is Quincy Sharp, the spirit of Amadeus Arkham. You have done well to decipher my story and I prey it has helped you on your path. I trust that through my writings you will do what is right. Please. I implore you, continue my work. This city deserves a savior, continue my work! vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv Collector's Edition Dr. Young Journal Notes ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ As the title says, there was a journal that was shipped with the Collectors Edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum. Each Character took up two pages; one page for a picture (same as in game bio) and height/weight stuff which I already listed above so I wont bother with it here. The other page contains personal entries from Dr. Young that give us more medical insight to some of our favorite supervillains in the Batman universe. Each page also has some short text that's written rather large and bold that has one of three purposes. One; Giving us more medical / character insight. Two; Hinting at something thats relevant to the games plot Three; Something just plain funny if you are familiar with the character. I'll write those out in all caps under each characters name so you can enjoy them too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.01 These are the private notes of Dr. Penelope Young. They concern treatments and diagnoses of Arkham Asylum's current inmates, and fall under patient confidentiality laws. If this journal is found, please return it to Dr. Young immediately. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.02-03 THE JOKER Real Name: Unknown MR. WHITE? Psychological Profile My most challenging patient at Arkham. The Joker's derangement defies easy classification. His rapidly changing mood swings hint at borderline personality disorder, but he has no trace of associated identity problems. He also displays signs of deep narcissism, but nonetheless he has a well-developed sense of others, as his ability to manipulate everyone from orderlies to doctors in Arkham is extraordinarily well-developed; he also shows all the signs of a highly functioning sufferer of antisocial personality disorder. At times I almost wonder if he is actually insane at all... ADDITIONAL NOTES His criminal record makes clear that he is an unrepentant homicidal maniac. He is extremely manipulative; the file detailing Harley Quinn's associations with him is fascinating reading. It's unfortunate I was not on staff at the time to witness his seduction of her first hand. His past is unknown, and his answers to my questions about it are wildly inconsistent and frequently fantastical. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.04-05 Killer Croc Real Name Waylon Jones SPECIAL ENMITY WITH GUARD NAMED AARON CASH Psychological Profile Jones was born with a rare mutation that created a series of physical disfigurements, which have worsened intensely with age. His skin is green and scaly, and his body has grown to grotesque proportions. While these disfigurations are unquestionably the source of Jones's various psychosocial disorders, his intense misanthropy seems to also derive from an understandably difficult childhood, which included alcoholic relatives and social rejection by his peers. He increasingly embraces an animalist, subhuman self-conception ADDITIONAL NOTES His acute misanthropy makes him difficult to treat; he refuses to respond to socialization, reacting only when he is acknowledged as a dangerous beast, which is clearly how he views himself. It may be that his physical disfigurements are so sever, he will never be able to truly reintegrate into human society. This challenge is made clear by his repeated (and occasionally successful) attempts to maim and kill the asylum's orderlies and doctors. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.06-07 Mr. Zsasz Real Name: Victor Zsasz NOT A CANDIDATE FOR NEW RESEARCH... EXTREMELY UNSTABLE!!! Psychological Profile A psychopath, Zsasz would fit perfectly into the disorganized, asocial category of serial killer if not for his special fixation on the Batman. His motives are power and control, which he expresses quite literally by carving a scar into his skin to make each of his victims. His obsession with the Batman is also manifested in a physical way: he is saving a special spot to scar when he kills the Dark Knight ADDITIONAL NOTES Its rare that an asocial serial killer motivated by control would have no history of childhood trauma; the exact reason for Zsasz's behavior remain a mystery. His low IQ further hampers my attempts to treat him. He spends hours at a time ritualistically counter the marks on his skin. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.08-09 Bane Real Name: Unknown CENTRAL SUBJECT FOR TITAN RESEARCH! Psychological Profile The worst substance abuse case I have ever personally encountered, Bane is all but defined both physically and mentally by his use of the Venom compound. His body is ravaged and withered when he is in withdrawal, but upon being administered a dose of Venom, he becomes a physical monstrosity. A highly intelligent and strategic man, his sense of self has become totally dependent on his Venom addiction. When partaking, he displays intense narcissism, manifesting as megalomania and a competitive preoccupation with the Batman. Deprived of the compound, he is almost totally unresponsive in every way, approaching catatonia. ADDITIONAL NOTES A childhood of intense deprivation (he reportedly came of age within a prison) resulted in a histrionic streak that has fixated him on destroying Batman in order to seek worldwide approval. His antisocial upbringing has given him an intensely focused mind His addiction to Venom seems unbreakable, and the compound's effects on him are very impressive; I cannot help but be intrigued by the possibilities locked within this incredible substance... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.10-11 Harley Quinn Real Name: Harleen Quinzel ESCAPE RISK? KEEP SEPARATE FROM THE JOKER AT ALL TIMES!!!! Psychological Profile Transference is a professional danger that every psychiatrist must be ready for, but Dr. Harleen Quinzel experienced what might be classified as delusional transference when she convinced herself that she and the Joker were in love. Displaying symptoms of bipolar disorder, with the Joker's mood swings as the causative agent for her manic and depressive episodes, Quinzel also shows a high level of dependence on the Joker. His maltreatment of her gives this dependence a dimension of sadomasochism. ADDITIONAL NOTES She shows signs of extreme regression in the Joker's presence. The excessive and invasive psychological screening I had to undergo here at Arkham was largely due to her earlier fall from grace. At times Im resentful of this; the mere idea that I would have become inappropriately involved with the Joker or any other inmate is preposterous. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.12-13 The Scarecrow Real Name: Jonathan Crane GENIUS AT CHEMISTRY. WOULD HAVE SOMETHING TO CONTRIBUTE TO (illegible crossed out word) RESEARCH Psychological Profile Possibly one of my greatest successes here at the asylum. Despite his tendency for extensive role play (oddly common among Gotham City's criminals), its unclear to me why Dr. Crane was ever considered insane. In our long discussions, I've been impressed with his genius for psychology and biochemistry, and I fully believe that if presented with a stock of his fear-inducing gas, he would feel no compulsion to use it. He seems to have entirely turned away from his former life of crime as the Scarecrow. ADDITIONAL NOTES He's valiantly battled a history of anxiety disorder, due to a difficult childhood and adulthood traumas, through an intense study of psychology and the causes of fear. I've come to believe that the accusations that he experimented on human subjects are wildly exaggerated. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.14-15 Poison Ivy Real Name: Pamela Lillian Isley (nothing of note except that her image, and everyone elses, is made to look like a Polaroid and has an XOXO and a lipstick kiss stain on the bottom of the picture) Psychological Profile Yet another patient whose treatment is complicated by a bizarre medical condition, Isley has a modified genetic code that incorporates plant DNA and renders her physically toxic to others. She is essentially deeply antisocial, believing herself to be not only inhuman, but superior to others; this diagnosis is tied into her hypersexuality, which takes the form of a constant attempt to seduce others to do her bidding. She also displays a narcissistic belief in her role as a protector of the entire natural world. ADDITIONAL NOTES Oddly, Isley is another former doctor who is now an inmate. She seems resentful during our treatment sessions; I believe the fact that I'm a woman frustrates her erotomania. She desperately believes all male residents of Arkham are at least partly in love with her. I've been looking through her old research papers, many of which were never published. There is some fascinating work there... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.16-17 The Ventriloquist Real Name: Arnold Wesker HOW DOES HE MAKE THE BILABIAL SOUNDS? ITS UNCANNY. Psychological Profile Wesker is a very special case; previously he was a classic example of avoidant personality disorder, which intensified into a violent outbreak that led to his incarceration at Blackgate Prison. While there, he graduated into a fully realized delusion that his ventriloquist dummy, "Scarface", is an independent personality exerting control over him. It is possible that Wesker is a legitimate example of multiple personality disorder. To probe this further, I've requested that he no longer be separated from his dummy during the treatment sessions. ADDITIONAL NOTES It can be very difficult to question Wesker due to constant interruptions from "Scarface". Weskers delusion has led him to create a complicated backstory for "Scarface", whose personality Wesker seems to have created from poorly written, old- fashioned gangster films. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.18-19 The Riddler Real Name: Eddie Nashton (aka Edward Nigma) HE SEEMS TO BE HIDING SOME SORT OF SECRET ARTIFACTS ON THE ASYLUMS GROUNDS Psychological Profile As with many of the inmates here, Nashton has an abnormally high IQ, but this is tempered by his intense narcissism and obsessive-compulsive need to devise and disseminate his (surprisingly ingenious) riddles and puzzles. If there were a way to break this histrionic behavior and its underlying egomaniacal causes, he could be cured. Its a puzzle only I am truly capable of solving. ADDITIONAL NOTES I cannot help but admire the complexity, and yet apparent simplicity, of the many conundrums and riddles Nashton regularly presents me with in his treatment sessions. Often I find myself working through them in my (infrequent) free time. His obsession with displaying his own intelligence is the central trigger for his many personality disorders. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.20-21 Clayface Real Name: Basil Karlo STRONG ESCAPE RISK! Psychological Profile While his bizarre ability to shape-change opens him up to the obvious-if controversial- diagnosis of multiple personality disorder, Karlo seems instead to be suffering from borderline personality disorder, with a special emphasis on identity disturbance. He is difficult to pin down on any subject, and defends his wild changes in affect as evidence of his dramatic abilities, which he considers to be wildly underrated. Rarely does he take his own shape, but frequently mimics me when I attempt to interview him. ADDITIONAL NOTES His identity is at risk of splintering, due to the growing frequency of his adopting the identities of others to the exclusion of taking on his own. I find his imitation of me to be especially unflattering; I am most certainly not the bitter, calculating academic he attempts to portray me as. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.22-23 The Penguin Real Name: Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot SHOULD (the word "not" crossed out) NEVER BE GIVEN AN UMBRELLA. Psychological Profile Pushed into schizotypal behavior by an inferiority complex. Cobblepot's specific eccentricities revolve around an obsession with ornithology and intense ideation based around umbrellas. Even within the confines of the asylum he has managed to create working umbrellas with "trick" features. Maltreatment by other inmates and probings into possible sources for his insecurities always trigger intense overcompensation on his part, in the form of rantings about his business acumen and misunderstood intelligence ADDITIONAL NOTES His off-putting, antisocial behavior is frequently at odds with his need to be valued and admired. He is compulsive about his sartorial appearance, which conflicts with his avoidance and denial of his physical shortcomings. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.24-25 The Mad Hatter Real Name: Jervis Tetch DOSAGE SHOULD BE HEAVILY INCREASED. Psychological Profile Tetch is a classic delusional who also displays an obsessive ideation based on hats. He believes that he is the true-life incarnation of the Mad Hatter from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Tetch's skills as a hypnotist and his frankly inexplicable talent for inventions involving mind control make him at times a dangerous patient to treat, or they would for a less stable and insightful doctor than myself. ADDITIONAL NOTES Tetch is completely unmanageable when forced to bare his head, so the regulation of Arkham patient uniform rules have been relaxed in this area to facilitate his treatment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.26-27 The Great White Shark Real Name: Warren White BIT A GUARD LAST WEEK! Psychological Profile At best a mild psychopath upon admittance to the asylum, White has graduated into a full-blown case of antisocial personality disorder, partly due to maltreatment at the hands of his fellow inmates. After severe facial disfigurements by Mr. Freeze left him without lips, nose, ears, or hair,* White filed down his teeth in an attempt to further differentiate himself from others. His sense of self is now completely dependent upon his identity as a dangerous criminal. (* As I stated in his bio, this statement is misleading and false. While a riot was happening in the asylum, Warren was taken prisoner by Jane Doe and threw him into Mr. Freeze's cell. After being in the freezing cold cell for a while, he managed to untie his bonds but "at a cost of three fingers and his right thumb". He then fell to his knees and hit his face on the floor in frustration. This destroyed the area from his upper lip to the bridge of his nose, thus scarring him.) ADDITIONAL NOTES Some of the guards are convinced that he is running criminal rackets out of the asylum. This has no bearing on his treatment and could provide valuable data regarding his condition. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.28-29 Two-Face Real Name: Harvey Dent MEDICATION SEEMS TO BE HAVING A HIT-OR-MISS EFFECT. Psychological Profile A bizarre schizotypal, Dent shows intense ideation focused on the concept of dualism. This arises out of his unique facial disfigurement (half of his face has been scarred by acid) as shown by its emergence concurrent with the incident that scarred him. He has no prior history of psychopathic behavior, but since his disfigurement he has continually created situations based on positive and negative outcomes with chance as the deciding factor. He accepts no responsibility for the sociopathic, destructive outcomes that result approximately 50% of the time. ADDITIONAL NOTES Dent's ideation around dualism extends to his clothing, his environments, and the central toke of his psychological makeup-his half-scarred silver dollar. He becomes catatonic if it is removed from him. Perhaps I should be unsurprised that half of our treatment sessions are productive. The other half are characterized by endless, pointless word games revolving around chance and fate. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.30-31 Calendar Man Real Name: Julian Day CHECK PERMANENT CALENDAR BEFORE EACH VISIT... Psychological Profile Day suffers from schizotypal personality disorder, with ideas of reference focusing around the calendar. He believes the major dates of the Gregorian calendar mark times when he is personally and uniquely freed from societal norms. On these dates, he exhibits mildly sociopathic, frequently criminal behavior. He is in general one of the easier patients to treat here at Arkham, except on major holidays, when he becomes impossible to handle, displaying borderline behavior and refusing to socialize throughout the day. ADDITIONAL NOTES I have been unable to source his ideas of reference; I suspect incidents of childhood trauma related to a number of major holidays. Due to my tendency to work through the holidays during which most of other staff take leave, I've been able to study the majority of Day's schizotypal breaks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.32-33 Humpty Dumpty Real Name: Humphry Dumpler ALL CELL FURNITURE NEEDS EXTRA REINFORCEMENT Psychological Profile Developmentally disabled, with an IQ of just under 70 and symptoms of emotional retardation and regression, Dumpler is also extremely obese. Dumpler's most intriguing mental disorder is his obsessive-compulsive fixation on fixing broken items. This manifested itself most notably in a fascinating (albeit horrific) attempt to "fix" an abusive relative through dismemberment and reassembly. ADDITIONAL NOTES His imposing physique intimidates many orderlies, guards, and inmates, but his simple mental state makes him easy to manipulate and control, so I find no reason to be afraid of him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.34-35 Mr. Freeze Real Name: Dr. Victor Fries ESCAPED! Psychological Profile Another surprisingly intelligent inmate. Fries's narcissism and antisocial disorders are surpassed only by his intense fixation on his late wife Nora. His obsession with Nora's memory has developed into a variety of psychopathic behaviors, worsened by his narcissistic egomania and lack of concern for others. Fries's peculiar medical condition - which keeps his body temperature below zero and necessitates a variety of complicated and annoying security precautions - only furthers his antisocial tendencies. ADDITIONAL NOTES Yet another inmate here at the asylum who was formerly a doctor; certainly an odd pattern. Treatment is difficult due to the frigid temperatures I am forced to endure in his presence. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.36-37 The Ratcatcher Real Name: Otis Flannegan TELL MAINTENANCE TO INCREASE RAT POISON AROUND CELL. Psychological Profile Suffering from acute anthropomorphic delusions, Flannegan is so convinced that he can control rats, that he has persuaded many of Arkham's inmates, orderlies, guards, and even other doctors that he commands this fantastical ability. Personally, I dont consider "evidence" provided by the Batman to be convincing of anything, and find it much more likely that Flannegan has manifested a unique variation of a Messiah complex. ADDITIONAL NOTES I'm hesitant to administer aggressive treatment before first doing a full write- up on his condition; it could be an easy way to get published and procure naming rights to a newly documented disorder. If only there weren't so many odious vermin constantly swarming in his cell. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.38-39 Tweedledum and Tweedledee Real Name: Deever and Dumfree Tweed (Two happy face drawn near the top of the page) Psychological Profile The Tweed cousins' obsession with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is similar to that of Jarvis Tetch, but unlike Tetch, the Tweeds are not delusional so much as severely dependent on each other, with a shared fixation on extreme roleplay. They know they are not Tweedledum and Tweedledee, but nonetheless delight in acting like them. Their complex rhyming and complicated in-jokes prolong their treatment sessions, but the intense aggression they show when separated hardly make things easier. ADDITIONAL NOTES It's difficult to believe they are cousins, as they could pass as identical twins. I suspect plastic surgery. I avoid scheduling sessions with them on the same days I'm treating Tetch, as otherwise the nearly endless recitation of selections from Lewis Carroll would be enough to make even me question my sanity. Or at least my career choices. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.40-41 Black Mask Real Name: Roman Sionis CANDIDATE FOR ADVANCE (illegible crossed out word) RESEARCH? Psychological Profile A mild psychopath, Sionis has narcissistic tendencies but the main malady he suffers from is resentful obsession with, of all people, billionaire Bruce Wayne. Sionis is fixated on Wayne possibly due to childhood traumas that he has projected onto the idle playboy. It is difficult to say whether the two actually knew each other as children, or if this is Sionis's invention. However, it is Sionis's criminal activities, and the roleplaying that resulted in the black skull-like mask accidentally burnt into his skin, that resulted in his committal to Arkham. ADDITIONAL NOTES I'd question whether Sionis is actually insane, if not for the choice of his obsession; I can't imagine being interested in (much less stalking) such a pointless personage as Bruce Wayne. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.42-43 Firefly Real Name: Garfield Lynns (Nothing worth noting on his page other than random scribbles that exist on everyones page) Psychological Profile A dedicated pyromaniac, Lynns has embraced his disorder and, for much of his life, managed to positively reinforce his fire-starting tendencies and related euphoria through profits from various acts of arson. Horribly scarred by one of his own blazes (perhaps due to a euphoric fugue that left him incapable of escaping the flames?) Lynns's extreme pathology definitely borders on the suicidal. Extreme treatment would be necessary to break the cycle of rewards he has set up for himself ADDITIONAL NOTES He is extraordinarily adept at maintaining a cache of flammable items in his cell, despite his tendency to burn through them, pun intended. It is rare for a pyromantic to graduate to psychopathic behavior equal to Lynns's extreme acts of arson. And the extensive burns on his body seem to have barely affected him. He might be a good candidate for some of the more experimental forms of treatment I'm developing... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.44-45 Warden Sharp Real Name: Quincy Sharp (A finger print on the bottom of the page) Psychological Profile During my tenure here at Arkham, I often find myself wondering if it is just the patients who need help. What is it about this place that brings out the worst in people? Warden Sharp clearly overcompensates for a variety of insecurities, and is an excellent practitioner of avoidance and denial. He actually believes it is he who has made a difference here, and not the doctors. The man is quite clearly a fool and for the sake of the asylum, I hope his mayoral campaign goes well. ADDITIONAL NOTES Sometimes I feel his full attention is not on the job at Arkham. I imagine this is due to his mayoral campaign, but the problem may run deeper. His constant interference and snooping into my work has been both annoying and patronizing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- P.46-47 Batman Real Name: Unknown (Little sketch of a bat, an ink smear I can't make out, and a B with a wavy line next to it resembling the number 3 slightly) Psychological Profile Despite the Batman's relationship with the Gotham City Police Department and public perception of him as a hero, I have gathered numerous reports of his activities from the inmates in the asylum, and have personally begun to wonder if they are his true peer group. Purely theoretically, I would posit the man who calls himself "Batman" as an antisocial, possibly borderline individual with paranoid tendencies. His "crime-fighting" activities seem motivated by a belief that criminal behavior is some kind of personal affront, his use of an alias indicates identity disturbance, and he has a flagrant disregard for society's norms and laws. ADDITIONAL NOTES I'd presume a childhood free trauma; his mix of disorders seems much more likely to be caused by genetic predisposition, and possibly substance abuse. His ideation around bats is peculiar and unique. My hope is to gather enough material from Arkham's inmates to publish a psychological profile of the Batman, in which I would name a new category for his specific affliction.
