I got the golden egg from the chicken on the island where you get one of the slates. It's where you get the idol also....you have to an assisted jump to get the slate. Before you get the slate, stay a distance away from the chicken and wait for it to lay the golden egg.

The Marshlands (3-1) is the best to get golden eggs. Go to the poultry farm (it`s located in the middle of the map as a circular shape with a curved line underneath it. The best chance of getting any egg (bar the rotten egg) is within the first 30 seconds or so. If, after that time you still haven`t got the gold egg (the chances of finding one here are pretty reasonable compared to any where else as there are a lot of chickens in one area) go back onto the air boat, reverse, then climb back out again and you`ll see that the chickens have reverted to their original positions (including any that you may have killed) and their biological imperatives have also been reset. This basically means you can keep doing it for as long as you want. There is a 100% chance of obtaining a gold egg this way and a small chance of obtaining two in one go if you are lucky. Either way feel free to do this as many times as you want until you have as many gold eggs as you`d like.
