From what I found in my research this is the end of the Metal Gear Solid series, a.k.a. The story of Solid "Old" Snake, but not the Metal Gear series. If you remember the first two games were Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake. If I remember correctly there is a cure for FoxDie, it's called FoxAlive and stops the FoxDie from becoming a biological weapon, but it will eventually break down like FoxDie, but Solid Snake will have died by the time it becomes lethal.

I just read in playstation magazine the the king Kojima is doing a another metal gear but it will be called METAL GEAR not metal gear solid as sadly it wont have snake in it
