Once you buy or obtain a weapon from whatever method it is yours forever. You don't have to do anything. Since you can only equip three, with one being Wrath's sword and the other Death's Scythe, you must choose what the third one will be by going to the start menu and equiping it to the third slot.

Actually you get 3 weapons in total which are chaoseater (main and only weapon that can't be changed), death's scythe or the upgraded version The Harvester, and tremor gauntlet, you can swap between death scythe (once bought from Vulgrim) and Tremor Gauntlet (once you gets it later on in game) by pressing down on the D-Pad, other useful objects that help with enemies are crossblade, abyssal chain (a chain with a spear on the end), and mercy (handgun), earthcaller is more for the gates than enemies. But my advice is also if doing the hardest difficulty level up all all 3 weapons to the max and have the abyssal armour too and get all life shards and wrath shards so you're totally maxed out for everything that you face. Best training for scythe and gauntlet and chaoseater is iron canopy.
