Hey folks! Welcome to my Unlockables FAQ for Soul Calibur III. Yes, this game
is so chocked full of secrets, the sheer mechanics of it are mind-boggling!
With tons of unlockable characters and features, it's a fair bet that you'll be
sticking to this game for a while. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect to
find. Hope it helps!

Q: Dude, who the heck is Night Terror?! I've never seen him before, you dirty,
dirty liar!

A: Night Terror is the *REAL* final boss in Soul Calibur III. In order to get
to him, you must follow specific paths in Tales of Souls (specified later in
this FAQ), WITHOUT USING A CONTINUE/ LOSING A BATTLE.

Q: Sweet! Is he playable?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: NO. Sorry folks. You can unlock his profile after beating him, but that's
it. You'll just have to settle for Abyss.

Q: Uh, dude? I unlocked a bunch of stuff without clearing Chronicles of Souls,
doing enough battles, or leveling up my CAS character. You sure you're reading
your references right?

A: Okay, okay, I'll concede. While the BradyGames Strategy Guide (which was
used as a reference to this guide) lists out everything that can be unlocked,
there seems to be alternative ways of unlocking certain items without doing
much in Chronicles of Swords. These alternative ways involve using the VS mode
and your CAS characters. Unfortunately, I can't do any testing, as I lack that
second controller needed for VS Mode. If you and your friends come across
anything, give me a holler.
Also, don't forget that all battles in all modes are counted. The count does
NOT pertain to merely wins; it includes losses as well. And try as I might, I
still can't find the match counter in the game. Counting all the matches
manually bites, but so far everything seems to be accurate.

Q: Chasing Amy. How do I get her?

A: The easiest way to get her is by choosing Yoshimitsu in Tales of Souls and
make the following choices:
Go after your subordinate.
Investigate the man.
Stop when being felt watched.

Q: Are the Shop Girls playable? How do I get them?

Q: How come that secret/special character didn't appear on the path?

A: When hunting for secret/special characters, make sure that you're not using
any continues, or lose any battles. It'll make the difference.

Q: Dude! Is Dante in this game?

A: NO. DANTE (THE MAIN CHARACTER FROM THE DEVIL MAY CRY SERIES) IS NOT IN THIS
GAME. That is all!

Q: KOS-MOS?!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Okay, okay, enough with the KOS-MOS emails! Yes, you can create a character
in the likeness of that famous character from Xenosaga. You've got to unlock the
Type X parts first, though.

Q: Help, all I see are little symbols when I choose a weapon! How can I know
what the weapons can do?!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Okay, I've been getting this a lot, and there's a really easy way to remedy
it:
Step 1: Go to the character select screen (ToS, Practice, whatever)
Step 2: Choose the character that you want. Now that little row of dots should
show up, letting you browse among the weapons for that character.
Step 3: Hit select.
That's all there is to it. Once you've pressed select, it'll show the weapon
properties of whatever item you've chosen. Just use the L analog stick or the
directional pad to browse through the weapons.

Ivy:
Follow Zasalamel twice (follow, then investigate).
Then search after the knight he told you about (Siegfried).
Then search into the rumor. I forget who exactly you fight
(I know there's a bonus fight against Kesev, dunno if you -need- to stop for
it, but win or lose is fine).
Then while in the pyramid, keep searching deeper until you face Olcadon. As
with all paths, you have to use no continues, until you reach him, then you
must beat him, beat Zasalamel (again, both with no continuing), and you'll
fight Night Terror.

The first choice, choose "Seek Power"
After the clock tower, "Avoid chasing the man", then "Seek knowledge of the
cursed sword" (something like that)
You'll automatically be taken to a couple of stages, and after the Indian Port
you'll be asked if you trust information a man gives you, then choose "Give it
a try"
Fight Raphael, the unknown soul, and then choose to approach the presence, beat
Olcadon, beat Night Terror.

Beat Gladiator and Rock then pick the 1st option (Something about a god)
Beat Sophita
Beat Zaslamel
Pick the 1st option then its going to ask you again...Pick the 1st option
again.
Beat Ivy.
Beat Cervantes.
Beat Xianghua.
Once you beat her pick the 2nd option (Search for the warrior or something like
that.) You fight unknown soul.
Beat him and then pick the 2nd option I think...The one that says Proceed
further in.
Beat Raphael and then pick the 2nd option (Approach the presence)
Beat Olcadon.
Then just beat Zas and you get to fight Night Terror.
You cannot lose ANY of your fights before Night Terror.
*If at any time it tells you that your being watched don't pick stop. Pick the
2nd option which I think is run away.

You start off fighting Yun-seong, after his defeat choose to stay and ask
around <2nd path>, this will lead you to a fight with Sophitia. and next you
will face Zasalamel and your first QTE.
Dodge the cog by pressing RIGHT <of course>
This brings up another set of choices. Choose to follow zasalamel and another
branch becomes available. choose the 1st path to search for the Azure Knight
thusly leading you into a battle with Revenant.
Choose to stop <1st path> and you will face a Doppelganger of yourself. (no
need to win) next you should face Raphael and your second QTE.
Parry his brash attack with LEFT+G and show bringing you to your next opponent,
Seong-Mina.
Defeat her and you will be offered another branch.
Choose the second path to go visit the man and you will come to the Labyrinth
and your first opponent, Cervantes.
Kill him and proceed into the depths of the labyrinth where an unknown soul <Li
Long> will be awaiting.
Be cautious here, as the arena is dark, so seeing edges can be rather difficult
and you must win this battle.
Kill the Unknown soul and you will be presented with another branch.
Proceed deeper into the labyrinth towards the darkness <2nd path>
and you will face Olcadan DEFEAT OLCADAN.
If you lose you will be shunted out of the dungeon, doomed to fight Zasalamel
and then abyss. WIN THE FIGHT and you will gain Olcadan,
If you don't already have him and proceed to Zasalamel.
Send him to his final rest and he will absorb the swords, but instead of
throwing the Soul Calibur down at you, the screen will go all white, sending
you to the final showdown with NIGHT TERROR himself and your final QTE.
Press RIGHT+K to dodge his incoming beam and knuckle up!!!

"What I did was, I used nothing but created characters to fight. I leveled each
one up to 30, and created more as soon as the slots became available.When I
ran out of room and needed a new class, I would erase one and create
another,into a class I didn't have yet. I leveled them up to 30. I didn't waste
time in using anyone beyond level 30 aside from my first character, a
Barbarian. As I progressed though the game, I consistently checked the shop

F) Custom Character Development

Okay, so you've created your very own character! However, there's more to
making a fighter than giving it clothes to wear; it has to know how to fight!
In order to do so, you're going to have to spend some quality time with your
custom character. The more battles you fight using the character, the more
it will 'level up' and unlock other disciplines for you to use.
*The quickest way to obtain these disciplines is as follows:*

"An easy way to get weapon disciplines for the create-a-soul classes (Thief,
Ninja, etc.) is to play VS battles with just created characters of that class
(Thief VS Thief) at 0% health 1 round/match...After about 50 (maybe less)
matches you should have all the disciplines for that class...and be that much
closer to other unlockables (i.e. the joke weapons). Repeat with all classes
to get the disciplines for each. (And BTW Sword Master Class CANNOT USE souls
(regular character) weapons)."

"I figured out the number of battles to obtain the disciplines for the created
characters using the VS Mode trick in your FAQ. The numbers are:
12 battles for the 2nd Discipline
25 battles for the 3rd Discipline
38 battles for the 4th (Soul) Discipline

Now, while this method of unlocking Disciplines is remarkably fast and
efficient, it poses a problem for those of us that don't have that extra
controller required for VS play. Just in case, you can always use your
character in the Quick Play in the Soul Arena Mode. It'll take you a few
playthroughs, but you'll be able to unlock Disciplines as well.
However you do it, you'll be able to choose from a wide variety of Disciplines.
Here's a breakdown of the disciplines your character can use (In order of
unlocking), based on its job:
