I am at beyond the black stump and am missing 15 opals. I have looked everywhere and cannot find them. I have looked on the cheat sheet and someone said to unlock the collectables but they did not say how?

Had the same problem. You can find three crates at the bottom left of the mountain on the opposite side of the lift
