You do not get the shield and there is no movie at the end but you can decode what he says to learn what someone is doing.

Yes I say it is worth the trouble but if you want to unlock him easier use the invulnerability cheat and 1 hit 1 kill.

Definintly Minion is worth the trouble, but he is just a normal sized car when you play as him instead of being huge like he should be...
Also if you're confused about what minion says I took the liberty to translate them for you
