getting to volcano overlook

How do I get to volcano overlook? I have crafted my hammer an chisel but everytime I go to inspect the rock my sim looks confused. Someone please help me

What I did was, I inspected the hole with the mist, then inspected the rock...afterwards your sim will make the rock fall into the hole. (i beat this game 4 times, 100%)
