I've got as far as the geyster plains but I can't seem to find a way to the llama temple and volanco summit.

You need to find all of the hieroglyphic pieces first. Then yuo need to make the hardwood crafting bench to create the hieroglyphic decoration which is you key to open up the Ancient Door in the Geyer Plains. Hope I helped.
