Yes. You have to beat many high rank people like shihans and Tekken Lords and whatever. If you defeat many of them you're likely to gain a rank. Oh yes and don't fight Kyus and beginers.

Yeah! There is because when I was using Raven i had gone up to shihan i quit the fight and went to arcade mode again i was a virtuose and when i won thats rank i got.

No it's how hard the players are
I mean if you beat a master and then another master or champ you will become further quicker

Once you are 1st dan and above the only way to get your lvl up is to beat characters that are 1st dan or above.
