Yeah I had this problem too, took me 12 tries to beat him....ok what you need to do is play as Luke or Guy whoever you prefer because the deal the best Physical attack and Van will primarialy focus on Luke and Guy. WARNING:NEVER PLAY AS NATALIA IN THE LAST FIGHT, she doesnt deal alot of damage and her artes suck anyway, and also if you do play as her Van usually kills Luke and/or Guy almost immediatly, don't ask me why. Having some one else play as Tear will also help you alot in this fight she can inhance Jades artes and give very usefull stat enhacments so make sure she is using that periodically. Also make sure to spread otu your party becasue during the second part of the fight he will use lots of Mystic Artes and a weird fanned out lighting attack. ALSO WHEN HE USES JUDGMENT USE MAGIC BLOCK CONSTATLY UNTILL IT STOPS, like you probly figured out it kills in one hit. I used LUKE, TEAR, JADE, and ANISE it took me about 30min with them.
