First of all it's not a crocogator, it some kind of drilling lizard thing and it is way bigger than a crocogator. Second, did you enter the dwarf tunnel from earth valley?

If you did, you will not find it there. You have to go to the region where you first fought a smilodon to get his fangs. When you get there go westward towards earth valley.

There will be another tunnel there. Follow it untill you reach the end where you will see a cut-screen and the ore-eaters will come out.

There are two of them and you might want to use your volty blast on one of them to beat them faster.
