I've got a ruststone and want to make rusted great sword so I can make an ancient blade but when ever I give it to the guy that makes the weopons insted of the rusted great sword I get a iron lance what I'm I doing wrong?

Don't worry, you're not doing anything wrong. Every Ruststone contains a certain type of weapon, such as Lance, and the actual weapon that is produced when you polish one is totally random, so if you've got a lance Ruststone, it may be a Rusted Lance or just an Iron Lance. The only thing you can do is keep collecting Ruststones and hoping they'll give you a Rusted Great Sword.

If you save, and then polish a Ruststone and it isn't what you're after, try resetting the console and then polish the Ruststone again, but I don't think this changes the type of weapon that it will make, just the weapon produced. So if you polish one and it makes a Iron Sword, reset and try again.

That guy is all wrong don't reset you're consol just save it when you have the ruststone and polish it if it isnt the one you want relode you're game and do a easy quest then when you're back from the quest save it then try it agian if it isnt the one you want get out without saving then try it agian do that until you get the blade you want.
I have about 3 rusted weapons I know dude.

The other guy is right about other types of ruststones and there different types and all but you dont log out and back in like that because if you do it will be the same weapon as the last time just save it when you have the ruststone and polish it if it isn't the one you want then relode you'r game but dont save it then get back in and do a easy mission likie finding raw meat then come back from the quest and save it then polish it agian if it isnt the one you want do it over agian keep doing that until you have there weapon you want. It worked for me I have about 3 rusted weapons myself.

i jus give my ruststone to that guy until 10 ruststone but i didnt get ancient blade :(

I found a great way to make more Rusted Great Sword!
Previously apologize if I am just lucky. But it never hurts to try.
I only had 4 Rustone but never get the Rusted Weapon.
After defeating Monoblos, I talked to all the villagers. Then take 3 of 4 Rustone as a Rustone only be taken alone.
And taarrraaaaaaa .... .........
Third Rustone I take to be scrubbed into Rusted Great Sword. Also does a bit sorry! Because a few hours ago I just got Rathalos Firesword hard!
And soon I made ANCIENT BLADE!
