It happened with my mate aswell, so what I did was I got an old memory card from a boot sale and saved the jak x file to that one instead of with all my other files.

Yes I guess so I have a whole bunch of saves on my card in cluding Jak X and it's just fine

Well, of course it's possible.
It's possible for all games to have a bad release.
To be safe, you probably want a separate memory card.
