Ok maybe you're doing something. First get the Dragon Radar. When the ball is in the CENTER of the radar, press the square button. You should be able to pick up the Dragon Ball. If not, there is something wrong with your game.

Get the dragon radar.
Then when the ball is in the [ ], click x to highlight character on the spot, then click square.
If it is Goku, he will look like hes searching and he will stand up with the dragon ball.
If it is not Goku, the icon will curve and twist and the dragon ball will appear above the icon.

You have to push X on the character you want to search than push square. If you want to know the location of it wait until the dragon radar says you are on top of it.
