They know all the hiding spots because they have probably played a long time. The reason that they glide is because they probably hacked something, or got a rank up.

They glide because they are cheating, nothing more. It is known as the snake cheat, and makes your virtually impossible to kill and able to shoot people without exposing yourself to any risk. I say virtually impossible, lobbing any kind of explosives generally gets them. Nothing is more satisfying than watching a cheater move round in circles trying to shake the sticky grenade some inconsiderate person stuck to their head :-). Rifle grenades are also pretty effective.
