I've done the first two part's of crawdad farm but as I come up to talk to zoe she tell's me to slide into the crawdad's by using the R1 or L1 button but the thing is it never work's and I end up dying please help .

I don't know exactly what you mean, but if you have enough room, try to put some distance between you and your enemies before trying it. Your boost is the square button.
When you're using the R1 and L1 triggers, you have to face the way you want to shoot first. In other words, before you hold the triggers, face the direction you want to shoot. (You can face diagonally.)
The L1/R1 buttons works like this:
Hold one direction, and then press and hold R1/L1, now you can aim in that direction while still moving around
