Instance Guide - Warrior

Instances - Warrior

Firstly, when in instances there is two important things you must do in order to tank to the best of your ability, even before entering the instance:

Equip a 1H weapon and a Shield

Make sure you are in the defensive stance

PULLING

It is of a great interest to purchase a ranged weapon, doesn't matter which. You don't need an ammo pouch/quiver for it as you only use 1 piece of ammo per pull. It can be simply put in one of your bag spaces. Before going for a group of mobs, pull the patrols (mobs that move around and could become unwanted adds) After all the patrols are gone, the group must pick a spot in which you can pull the mobs onto until there is one group left in the room. That is when pulling is unneccesary and you can simply walk into a group and tank away! Not worrying about any adds A tank without a ranged weapon is like a bird without wings. AGGRO

When tanking, Taunt and Sunder Armor are your best friends. It is quite difficult to master the skill of tanking; so practise is required. These are general tips and guidelines I would give:

1. Use your rage points for Sunder Armor, until you have roughly 2 sunders in. 2. Mobs that haven't already aggroed you can be aggroed by the Taunt ability. Just add 2 sunders to it and he should stay aggroed to you for a while. 3. Grab all the mobs using steps 1 and 2 and repeat that until you have the majority (if not all) of the group aggroed to you. 4. You can then go around adding extra sunders and taunting until you think you have sufficient aggro or the mob is almost dead. IMPORTANT PARTY MEMBERS

It is VERY important to know what party member you will choose to save when either a pull goes wrong or for any other reason you lose aggro. It would be wise to save the Healer rather than a Rogue/Pala as they can hold their own much better than the Healer can. And if the healer goes, it is likely the whole group will go with them. Here is an example for an order of importance from a typical group build:

1. Priest - Basically keeps the group alive. 2. Warlock - A cloth wearer and will restrict the priest's healing towards you. 3. Rogue - Not that good armor but can hold their own better than a cloth wearer. 4. Hunter - Although the hunter does much more damage by ranged, the pet can act as a secondary tank, therefore he can lose aggro to the pet. Obviously there are different group build but I find this being one of the most common and if the group is different, hopefully you can build your own "list of importance" from it. A FEW EXTRA TIPS

1. If you have a Paladin in your group, it is much more convienient for the tank if the rest of the party has Blessing of Salvation on them, especially for boss fights. This will reduce aggro given and will be easier for the Warrior to tank. 2. Make sure you grab aggro off the right mobs. For example, you would be much better tanking a strong, enduring mob while the rest of the group takes down the healer. 3. Don't expect to be able to tank 5 mobs at a time (unless you are uber). Crowd Control from mages, rogues and even priests can come in handy for reducing the group from 5 down to 3 or 4. 4. Make sure there is a secondary tank in the group, whether it be a hunters pet, a Paladin or even the druid's bear form. It is reassuring to know that there is an extra "wall" if something goes wrong. 5. If you aren't already a Protection warrior, it would be good to respec of you want to be the best tank you want to be. However this is not nessecary until the higher levels so it is ok to do so at level 60. -Copyright@GBR
