How long does it take to get cockroaches and other insects into your home? I tried on this fanily to see what kind of diseases you can get and it's been almost 2 weeks and we don't have any vermin yet.

It normally takes about 8 sim hrs after a mean sim kicks over the garbage can. The only way I've seen roaches is because of garbage laying on the ground/floor. Try telling one of your sims to take out the garbage and then cancelling the command so that they drop the garbage on the floor, the vermin will come when the green fumes start.
