To domesticate animals, you have to switch from combat to social, then left click on a wild creature until it says on the bottom left, "you have domesticated the (species name here)" or something like that. After that, one of your tribe members will go out and make the creature follow him automatically.

Or you could make friends with other species in creature stage, and they'll autimatically be a domesticated animal in tribal stage
