ANSWERS

They are mined with the highest frequency between layers 5 and 28 under the Extreme Hills Biome in Minecraft Versions 1.3.1 and beyond. They are slightly more rare than Diamonds on any given level but they can be found in a wider vertical range. The ideal level for strip mining for Emeralds and Diamonds at the same time is when your feet are at level 11 and eyes at level 12. But watch out there is a lot of Lava just below those levels. They naturaly spawn in jungle biomes and you can trade stuff you don't need for them from Testificates.

You can find them in ravines or if you mine for a long time for they are the rarest block in minecraft.

Go to a large hills or jungle biome, and then strip mine on level 5.

There are three ways you can find emeralds:
1. By trading various items to villagers,
2. Mining in extreme hills biomes, or
3. Finding them in stronghold and abandoned mineshaft chests.
