I'm on the first japanese place, where can I get ore?

I had a bit of trouble with ore on that island, if you look you can see a mine not too far from your village but it's out of your influence. My advice is try and build towards the direction of the mine and when you can reach an ore rock pick it up and place it in your village, pick up loads of villagers and make them into deciple mineworkers by placing them next to the ore rock. Then they will hunt out ore by them selves, then when you have enough tribute, ore and wood build a smelter and they will take the ore to the smelter and it doubles the amount of ore you get. =)
