I N T R O D U C T I O N | #######-------------------------------------------------------------------- #### #### If you clicked this file, chances are you're looking for some help in the wonderful, fun and awesome game Kirby Super Star Ultra! Am I not correct? Maybe you want to know how to get that cool treasure in the Great Cave Offensive. Maybe you want to know just exactly how to beat that Meta Knight! And maybe you only just want to know how to unlock Milky Way Wishes. Well look no farther! This guide has all you could ever need and probably even more than that! Err, maybe that's not exactly what you wanted. Perhaps you wanted to know a bit more about me. Well, that's easy. I'm your local Kirby expert who, out of the goodness of my heart, decided to help out all the floundering souls on the GameFAQs message boards. See, they were having lots of trouble, and since I had already mastered the game back in the good old days of SNES, decided to make a guide for this. What's that you say? You've never heard of me before? ....Impossible! ...Or, maybe, not so impossible. I guess I'm not that famous, I wrote a whole bunch of guides back in the early days, but, looking back on them, I'm....not really too proud of them. This will mark my first real FAQ, and hopefully many more are to come! Hmm? About Kirby Super Star Ultra? Simply the finest in the genre of platforming. Kirby at his greatest. If you want the truth though, it's actually a remake of the classic Kirby Super Star for the SNES. For the most part, it was the same as Ultra, but with less features. Maybe you're wondering if you should shell out thirty dollars to pay for this game. Depends, my friend, depends...if you've played a Kirby game, you should know that this game is much better than all the other ones, and great fun multiplayer as well. It's probably worth the purchase, but for those Kirby veterans who played the original, I guess your decision making abilities would best be left alone... In this guide, you will find strategies, detailed and not-so-detailed walkthroughs, frequently and not-so-frequently asked questions, and probably some information on each of the sub-games included within this grand collection. Don't be intimidated by the Table of Contents, I don't think it will actually be as long as it looks to be...but I guess we'll never know, will we? At least until you read it, huh? ...Heh. Don't worry, for the rest of the walkthrough I won't be as wordy. I'll try to restrain myself... And finally, without any more waiting (or page scrolling), here you are, in all its glory! ...The walkthrough! # ##### [0200] #############----------------------------------------------------------------- ######### 2.0. Long-time Kirby veterans may recognize it as sort of a remake on Kirby's very first game, Kirby's Dream Land. While not a carbon copy, it retains many of the same elements and levels. As it is the first game of Kirby Super Star, it is obviously quite easy and can be completed very quickly. Unlike Kirby's Dreamland for the Game Boy however, Spring Breeze is different in that you can obtain abilities, the levels are much shorter, and the difficulty has been really toned down. Still, that shouldn't turn you away, it's really quite fun and it serves as a good introduction to the game. When you start up the game, this is the only game available at the start. You do not have any requirements to unlock this game, but once you complete it you will unlock both the Dynablade sub-game and the Gourmet Race. # ##### [0502] #############----------------------------------------------------------------- ######### 5.2. S T O R Y L I N E | #######-------------------------------------------------------------------- #### #### Help! King Dedede, your favorite evil penguin king of Dream Land has stolen all of the food from under the noses of the citizens! Kirby, always the hero sets off to regain the food from the gluttony of Dedede! Kirby jumps on his handy Warpstar and rides along on the Spring Breeze, starting his quest to save the starving people of his homeland! While it isn't exactly implied in this game, in the original Kirby's Dreamland, he had to get the Sparkling Stars back as well, as they are supposedly the main food source for the lazy Dream Land residents. You collect one at the end of each boss battle, although it doesn't really say what they're for in Spring Breeze. # ##### [0503] #############----------------------------------------------------------------- ######### 5.3. It's quite simple, actually. The first enemy you'll see is a Waddle Doo, so eat it and copy its ability. You can turn it into a helper if you want. Float over the hill, then drop down and defeat the Cappy. There's a door right here as well, and feel free to enter it if you want either a Maxim Tomato or the Cutter ability. Go right, beat up some Bronto Burts, jump the gap and hop onto the Warp Star. You'll be transferred to the second part of Green Greens, the forest area. Here, all you'll find is a Poppy Bro. Jr. But proceed right, and you'll face your very first mini-boss! ------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: P O P P Y B R O S S R . | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | Yeah, this guy is a joke. He has a few attacks, but he mainly just bounces | | around. He can bounce across the length of the screen, so be careful when | | you're on the ground. He'll also be throwing bombs in a very innacurate | | manner, so I doubt this would really bother you much. He will also skid | | across the ground, but he only goes for a short way. Occasionally, he'll | | throw three bombs at a time, and not just when he's low on health. It's | | actually very easy to defeat him, just use your whole arsenal of Beam | | attacks, preferably Wave Beam. He'll go down pretty fast. If you have a | | helper, the battle will be over even faster. However, if you have no | | ability, you can just suck up his bombs and spit them back at him for some | | good damage against him. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once Poppy Bros Sr. bites the dust, eat him for the valuable Bomb ability. Continue on right. Here, you'll see a few more Poppy Bro Jrs. One has bombs, and you can gain the bomb ability from him as well. Press B and down at the same time over the star blocks to blow open an entrance to the food hidden below. Your last obstacle is a Grizzo, a fat bear-type creature who has a lot of HP. Go in the door. It seems as if you are in a giant tree. You'll meet up with a Waddle Doo, and, as you go higher, another Grizzo. Break the star blocks to the left of him to get a free and easy 1-up. This section is actually quite short, just fly straight up, destroy the Waddle Dee and Cappy that are there, and enter the door. However, if you need to heal up first, break the star block to your right and grab the food at the bottom of the shaft. In the new area, head down the platforms to find the boss of Green Greens, Whispy Woods. ------------------------------------------------------- | B O S S: W H I S P Y W O O D S | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | Pfft. You're facing a giant tree. And he's really, really easy. First | | attack he'll probably do is drop some apples at you. Three, to be exact. | | If you lost your ability, you can spit them back at him. His only other | | attack is spitting gusts of air at you, but if you stay close to him, they | | won't even touch you. Really. That's it. | | | | You can use just about any ability against him, and it'll do humungous | | damage to him. I reccomend using Bomb, it's a great ability and can | | dispose of Whispy Woods quickly. Just stage a non-stop assault of bombs | | against him and he'll be gone before you know it. The only thing you'll | | have to worry about is the apples he launches at you, but that's about it. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Success! Uh...wow. Whispy will start crying. Ah well! Grab the star, and once we're finished with the Kirby dance it's time for the next stage! # ##### [0532] #############----------------------------------------------------------------- ######### 5.3.2. Quickly eat him and gain the valuable Fighter ability. Float across the enemy-infested waters, beat up some beached Squishies and go in the door. After breaking some star blocks, of course. You're in this cavernous type area. Jump down into the pit to find a Kabu, a spinning and sorta creepy-looking head. Oh, and did I mention they can also teleport? If you're low on health, you can stock up on food items by breaking the star block to your left. Climb the ladder to the top, take care of the Kabu, and bust the star blocks on the rightthat are actually blocking out a not-so-secret door. Enter it. Here, you'll find an army of exploding coconuts plus a 1-up at the bottom of a pool of water. Swim to the bottom as to avoid the coconuts, then grab the 1-up and skedaddle. Back in the main room, jump down the shaft. Be careful though, at the bottom lies a Kabu and a Chilly. Inhale the Chilly if you want the Ice ability, but otherwise just break the star blocks. On the other side of them is a Gordo, an invincible spike ball - just run under it and into the door. Hello? What's this? It's Hyper Candy! It's a nifty little item that makes you temporarily invincible. Plow through the Burning Leos (you can eat them for the Fire ability), Gordos, and other assorted enemies until you reach a door built into a tower. Enter it to find the potentially dangerous Mr. Frosty! Oh, my! ------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: M R . F R O S T Y | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | If you were fast enough, you'll still be invincible from the Hyper Candy | | you ate back then. If this is the case, just run right into him and he'll | | explode. If not, then just read on. | | | | This guy is just a little more dangerous than all of the bosses you've | | fought previously. But really, not by much. His first move will probably | | be just jumping around. You can avoid it if you're at the top of the | | screen though. Sometimes he'll just make one big leap and crash down, | | leaving two stars for you to suck up if you have no ability. He'll also | | throw ice cubes at you which you can also use as ammo. If you get in his | | way while he's just walking along, he'll eat you...eew...and spit you out | | as a giant ice cube. Really, though, this guy is simple. Just use any | | attack against him, he has really low health. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you feel like it, you can assume his identity by eating him. It's a nice ability, that Ice, so I suggest taking it. Jump on the Warp Star, and yep, you guessed it, we're zooming off into the distance yet again. Well, we're on top of a castle. Castle Lololo, to be exact. Here we have a whole bunch of enemies, and you can swallow them for the abilities Crash, Sword, and Cutter, in order. Then, enter the door for another fun boss battle... ------------------------------------------------------- | B O S S: L O L O L O A N D L A L A L A | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | This time we're up against a team of two, and they each share a half of the | | boss lifebar. We've got three different platforms, and Lololo and Lalala, | | a male and female duo of blobs will comence their attack on you. They'll | | attempt to damage you by pushing blocks in your face. You can inhale them, | | but that's too much work. Best to have an ability and then move to the | | platform where they're not. Then, just jump up or down and hit them from | | behind. It works like a charm. It might take a while, but it's the best | | strategy. If you kill one of them before the other, it'll make things a | | lot easier. I used the Fighter ability against these guys, and it's | | probably the best. Once they both dissapear into the shadows at the end of | | each platform, they'll appear in random locations with new blocks. Be | | careful though, as they can sometimes be pushing Gordos. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once they're done for, grab the star! Okay kids, that's two of them! Only two more to go! # ##### [0533] #############----------------------------------------------------------------- ######### 5.3.3. I suggest swallowing the Blade Knight, as it has a pretty useful ability. Avoid the shots from the cannon and head right through the passage. There's a Scarfy and a Shotzo here. Beware of the Scarfy, if you try to inhale it, he'll turn evil and chase you. If you need any more health, jump over the Shotzo and collect the food. Head in the door. Here you'll find three enemies, all which have an ability, so take one if it strikes your fancy. Fly up to the platform and ignore the spikes. At the top of a slope you'll find a harmless Waddle Dee along with a Sir Kibble. Dispose of them both and head for the door. In this small room, you'll see some enemies flying by and some food protected by Hennies. When you come near, they'll fly after you. Personally, I just ignored them and ran for the door. However, once you go in it, well... ------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: K R A C K O J R . | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | This little guy is actually the boss of the level, only on a much smaller | | scale. He has a few attacks to speak of, but the main problem you'll be | | having is the fact that he's in the air. Use an ability with good air | | capabilities, Sword is pretty good on this guy. If you have no ability | | though, eat one of the bombs or Waddle Doos he throws at you. | | | | To attack you, he'll either weave across the screen and then run along the | | ground or drop bombs on you. To avoid the first attack, run to the bottom- | | left corner of the screen and just wait there. The second one can be | | avoided in the same way. He'll also randomly shoot out a Waddle Doo that | | will just...waddle towards you. This guy is easy. If you have Sword, | | he'll fall real fast. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jump on the Warp Star that will appear. You'll find yourself in a pool of water. Swim out of it, eat the Mike if you want, and head right. It's a wall of star blocks! Hopefully you still have the Sword ability, as then you can chop right through the blocks and the enemies inside. There's also a 1-up and a bit of food in there too. If you have no ability you can always just use puffs of air to break the block. Once the wall is demolished, head right and fly around the evil flowers, who will wickedly try to eat you. Avoid them or kill them off, then float up the narrow shaft to your right. Up here is a Poppy Bro Jr. with a bomb, so copy it's ability if you want. If you need it, drop down off the ledge to find a Maxim Tomato. But be careful, as it's on a ledge that will break apart once you land on it. Head through the door. In this room, you're standing on a few blocks, and above there's a bunch of clouds. The ones dead ahead have two Sir Kibbles on them. Take care of them or leave them up to your helper, then continue onwards. Some Parasol Waddle Doos will float down and then drop their parasols in exchange for their beams. Once they're done for, take either side up, they're both the same. Here you'll find two Rockys, which can probably just be ignored. Now, here you have a choice - you can take the shorter path to the boss by simply entering the door, or you can float up to the moon and press up to be whisked away to a kinda secret area. Be careful though, as a Grizzo will drop down from above. If you entered the moon room, you'll fall down from the sky an awfully long ways. You'll run into several food items along the way, plus a 1-up. If you miss it, you can always just fly back up to get it. At the bottom of the room, you'll find a Bonkers, a hammer mini-boss. Oh, and a Noddy, too. You actually don't need to fight Bonkers, he's completely optional. But you can beat him for Hammer, a powerful ability. Do whatever, then go in the door. ------------------------------------------------------- | B O S S: K R A C K O | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | Kracko is like Kracko Jr. 2.0. He has most of the same attacks, the Waddle | | Doo drop and the one where he flies around, but he's bunches harder. Once | | he drops a Waddle Doo, he'll do one of two things - either rain on you | | (this is easy to avoid), or shoot lightning across the whole screen (just | | fly over him when he does this). His last attack is a Beam ability-style | | lightning attack where he makes two beams to circle him temporarily. The | | Waddle Doos can also be a bit annoying, so defeat them if at all possible. | | | | He's airborne, so good abilities would be Hammer or Sword. Hammer works | | great, if you got it from Bonkers before battle. But be careful - touch | | Kracko and you'll be electrocuted. Remember, only his eye is vulnerable, | | the cloud part is safe to touch. Hey, he's not really that hard, is he? | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you beat him, the third star is yours! It's Dedede time! # ##### [0534] #############----------------------------------------------------------------- ######### 5.3.4. M T . Kirby busts in on his Warpstar, busting walls and squashing enemies on the way. As you enter, there's a Rocky to your left and a bomb-chucking Poppy Bro Jr. to your right. And farther on there's a Waddle Doo and a Parasol Waddle Dee. So, you have four abilities to choose from, but I prefer the Bomb ability myself. You should probably take it as well, unless you have something better in mind. Well, it's battle time, finally. Proceed through the door. ------------------------------------------------------- | B O S S: K I N G D E D E D E | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | Sigh, I was kinda hoping for something even remotely hard...well, it might | | be a little harder if you're using an ability other than Bomb. He'll | | be dead before you know it since he doesn't have a whole lot of health. | | But you don't have to use Bomb! It's just the most convenient one. | | | | Okay, okay, okay. This guy has a whole bunch of attacks. First, he'll | | probably just lunge at you and fall on his face. He'll swing his hammer at | | you and leap into the air if you're flying as well. This one leaves behind | | a star that you can gobble up if that's the kind of thing that interests | | you. He'll leap into the air and try to knock you out of the sky, as well. | | Next, he can inhale you and spit you out, just like you can. Cool beans! | | Maybe his most annoying attack is when he floats around Kirby-style and | | hunts you down. But eh. This guy is a snap to defeat. | | | | Ah, and this battle is fought in a big arena. Hey, did you notice that you | | can see the Mario crew in the crowd if you move over to the right or the | | left of the screen? | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- # ##### [0535] #############----------------------------------------------------------------- ######### 5.3.5. E N D I N G | #######-------------------------------------------------------------------- #### #### After Dedede is blasted out of his castle, Kirby either puffs up to super-size or sets up a Kirby balloon (I could never tell which) and the castle floats up into the sky as an avalanche of food rains down on the Dream Land residents. Kirby whisks Castle Dedede off over the sea while some blink-and-you-miss-it credits scroll by. As the credits conclude and our beautiful scene with Kirby against a sunset finishes, we see the Kirby ballon pop, but the castle is still held up by the cool powers of the four stars Kirby collected. More food than you can imagine rains down from the heavens, while Kirby does that cute little dance he does so well in front of an applauding audience of Waddle Dees. To be continued, eh? # ##### [2100] #############----------------------------------------------------------------- ######### 21.0. Well, why exactly would you want to do that? Ah. You'd like to ask me about Kirby Super Star Ultra or about my guide right here? That's fine. You can ask me any question you want, as I know the game from top to bottom - just make sure it isn't something that I already answered in the guide, okay? Please be kind and try to use good spelling and grammar, because if I can't understand it, I can't get back to you, okay? Please ONLY send me stuff pertaining to my FAQ, and nothing else. If you do, the world would just be a whole lot nicer! If you want to correct something in my FAQ like a spelling mistake, factual information or other stuff, just give me a call and I'll fix it in the next update. Any comments, critique, or constructive critisism would be appreciated. Here is my email address... dreamcat(at)fastmail.fm And there you have it. Hey kids! Did you want to put this cool looking guide on your website? Well, I have some bad news for you! See, you can't! I'm sorry. You'd have to ask permission first! If you're a nice guy, you'd do that! If you're not, well, you could get in a lot of trouble. You wouldn't want that, would you? And, yeah, before you ask, that counts for just parts of it as well. Meaning you can't take just one section! Do you get it? Awesome! If I decide to be a nice guy and I do let you put it on your site, just make sure you don't alter it! In any way! But really, it's probably best to just leave it on the site it's on! Okay? If you're curious, here's a list on all the sites that this guide is allowed to be hosted on...! GameFAQs Hmmm. It looks to be a bit short. Well, that's all. That's who can host it. If you catch somebody else with it, you'd better tell your friend, the head honcho, right here. Dream_Song. The guy with the crummy username. Please, use this guide for only your personal use. Okay kids, that's all for today's lesson! # ##### [2103] #############----------------------------------------------------------------- ######### 21.3. C R E D I T S | #######-------------------------------------------------------------------- #### #### First and foremost, I have to thank the incredible genious of both HAL and Nintendo, for making the best Kirby game ever. Yeah, you heard me. There's never been a Kirby game better than this, and I just have to give a shout-out to them, well, because without them, there would be no walkthrough. And that would be just plain sad. Thanks to all those cool people on the GameFAQs message boards, even though I don't really know any of them, they're still great guys and have inspired me to write this amazing FAQ. Thanks, fellas! And, well, I'd put me in the credits for writing the FAQ, but that would just be way too cliche. ....there would be more, but nobody's really contributed anything else. # ##### [2104] #############----------------------------------------------------------------- ######### 21.4. C L O S I N G | #######-------------------------------------------------------------------- #### #### Goodbye! Goodbye, my faithful FAQ reader! If you made it all the way down to here, it means you really care about me and my works, and are a true friend indeed. These kinds of things always seem to touch my heart, and it just really makes my day when you read the document from top to bottom....or maybe not, but whatever. This is the end of the file, and so, until next time...! F I N
