In a certain area where you ride the Waterbike sometimes there will be rings in the shape of Japanese Symbols. Im not sure what they mean but it is kinda cool.

How to find Islands and races

Have you ever been stuck on trying to find hidden islands and races against Jonny?
Heres what you do:
First go get in your hoverboat, it is probably the best boat, because the sub can't travel to certain islands.
Then Zoom out all the way.
Look around for white spots, or lighter blue spots.
Draw a line to that spot, and drive your boat there.
The whit spot will be a Jonny race or a hidden island
