Question for Ultimate Mortal Kombat

Hello

I am having trouble with a second hand copy of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 that I have bought for my DSi.

I have defeated 6 charcters but my game has not auto saved and I have lost all of my progress.

Can anybody please tell me if this game auto-saves after defeating a character or is there some way I can force it to save.

When I received the game there was only 1 profile used. I have deleted that, but I still cannot save.
