Dumb Question but...?

I have a really dumb question someone please help me! I'm at 60% and I'm not super stuck with anything but I made the fishing pole and for some reason cannot figure out how to use it! I go towards the water and the option I get is to spear fish. What do I have to do to use it?! Help please! I think I can only move forward and trade for a few key things if I can go fishing with the fishing pole. Thank you!

You have to go to the sea, by the wrecked ship. Tap on the rock and then tap 'Go Pole Fishing'. Make sure you have most/ all the bugs cause that's what you use as bait. Each likes different bug colours.

There is only 2 spots to use the Fishing Pole. In the sea where you go Diving/Swimming...is a large rock on the right next to the arrow to go to the ship. Click on it and get the option Examine or Go Pole Fishing. This is the Salt Water fishing spot. The other spot is over by the Air Plane crash by Susie McDress,(where the Mango Tree grows)...it's a small plus sign looking pond, that you can Dive/Swim in also...but there is a rock on the right, near the back of the pond. If you click on that rock...you will get an option...Examine or Go Pole Fishing. This is the Fresh Water pole fishing spot. (Please note the differance in Salt Water and the Fresh Water pole fishing spots...you will need to know this for certain fish to catch.)
