I'm stuck!

I'm not sure how to get rice, wheat, and other seeds. The only ones I can find are orange and carrot seeds(plus the ones you get from the gardener). Any suggestions?
Also I can't find the shell to trade for the guava seed. I'm at 80% in the game and don't know what else to do. Help would be much appriciated. Thanks!
