forageing grass and rice plant

Help! Am so stuck can't seem to get any further in game as can't cut down grass plant, which means can't make grass skirt for women in the bush. I can't seem to find any other way to move on with the game? Also can't forge for rice, to make a recepi, have watered them both but now all that shows up is to examine, when I click on that it says ready to harvest. Is there somethin I'm doing wrong? Is anybody elses game doing this??

You have to get the knife off of the Chef.

Mmhm I can't find the grass plant! Any ideas where it could be??

Chop the grass plant down and then it gives you grass plant seeds
