You get the knife once you complete more missions for the chef. The thread is made with a vine and the knife at the crafting station.

You get the knife from the chef after helping him and you can make the thread at the craft table with vines. Good luck

If you need a knife, you gotta do I think about 2 or 3 things for the chef (I call him chefguy or mr.cheffy)and to get the thread you need the knife from mr.cheffy and some vine and then you have thread. TADA!
