I need to go pole fishing so I made a fishing pole and got on the rock but whenever I pick a colour bait and touch the water my pole comes and stays for half a second before flashing away what do I do I mean is that meant to happen?

You need to keep your stylus on the screen, and then wait patiently for a fish to bite. Once they do, slide the stylus towards the net that will appear in a corner.
