2nd floor - isle of ember

I am about to give up on this game after many weeks of trying I believe there is some sort of fault.I have aquired the boomering then I go up some steps where their are two evil torches, the walkthrough says to throw the boomerang at them which in turn will extinguish the flames allowing me to descend to the next floor.Well after many weeks of trying it does not work neither does blowing into the mike, so if anyone has any ideas as to why please let me know.

I will be eternally grateful.

Comment:(Mar 16 2008) Thanks Ian but as I have said I have been throwing the boomerang at the switches to no avail.

See what you do is there are two switches you hit them with your boomerang and then go down the stairs

You have to throw the boomerang to hit the two chrystal ball switches that are to the left of the torches (in the area beyond the low wall). It is hard to do this as the torches keep shooting fire at you, and when you get hit your boomerang is disabled for a moment, but it is do-able. Unless you really do have a faulty game, in which case you are out of luck.
