Okay...this might seem odd but here is the way...first of all...grab a chicken...then run off the edge of the nearest cliff at in angle to which you will glide to the other side and be able to get the chest...keep the chicken because you will need it to get back across.

I completely missed this chest because I had no idea either until I forgot the chicken trick. The chicken trick is that holding a chicken and jumping off a cliff, etc. Will make you be in the air longer than if you weren't holding that chicken.
Anyway first grab a Chicken somewhere. I think theres at least 2 Chickens. Once you grab it, head over to the south west area and jump off the cliff over to the other side. Than claim your random treasure from the chest. To get off it you can grab the chicken and head back the other way or just head off the cliff.
